Our lovely mother, Katherine B. Riggs Frederick, passed away on December 5th, 2022, at the age of 98. She was born on June 24, 1924 in Wellsville, Utah. She was the third child of five girls and three boys. She worked on the farm, hauling hay and taking care of the cows until she was old enough to leave home. She graduated from the South Cache High in Hyrum. She met Myron R. Frederick, her husband, one night while roller skating and they fell in love immediately. They were married on April 10th, 1944, in the Logan Temple when he came home from the army on furlough. When the war ended, they moved around with their three children from place to place throughout Utah and Idaho as required by Myron’s job with Utah Power and Light Company. Katherine enjoyed sewing, crocheting and painting. Her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints kept her busy and at one time she was the president of the MIA program and served in the Relief Society and Primary. She also enjoyed doing family history and spent her retirement years indexing. Katherine was preceded in death by her husband Myron Rigby Frederick, and sisters, Elda McBride and Pauline McBride, and brothers Charles and Fred Riggs. She is survived by her sister Karen Haycock and her husband Clyde from Layton, Utah, her sister Betty Bankhead from Providence, Utah, and her brother Evan Riggs and his wife Sherma, from Providence. She is also survived by her daughter, Patsy Miera and her husband Frank from Albany, Oregon; her son Gerry Frederick and his wife Anne from Orangeville, Utah, and her son Myron Paul Frederick and his wife Karen from Pleasant View, Utah. She left a wonderful legacy of 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Her family wishes to express our deep gratitude to The Lodge in North Ogden for the great care they gave our mother during the remainder of her life. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 10th, 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in Salem, Utah, later the same day.

I was fortunate to meet and spend some limited time with BEA on three different occasions. She was delightful and I enjoyed the short time I was able to be around her. I got to see and learn about her painting and other things. My love and condolences for the family. Pam Harris

Paul, Gary, Patsy and family, I am so sorry to see your beautiful mother passed. I loved her so much. She and your dad were the best neighbors in Salem and after your dad passed I loved to visit and hear the stories she shared. We laughed and cried together. After I lost my husband she was my rock too. Her yard and home was perfect. She was such a graceful, loving sweetheart and I loved her. I have a beautiful painting she painted and your dad framed as a Christmas present they gave Leonard and I. She lived a wonderful life in the years she was my neighbor. I will cherish the fond memories of her. I just read her obituary so missed graveside service but I will take her flowers often. Sending condolences and love to all of you!
