Karron Shirlene Jackson Whittaker Webster peacefully passed into our Heavenly Father’s presence late in the evening of March 29, 2025. Her loving husband, Clair Webster, was at his sweetheart’s side, faithfully holding her hand just as he had done for the past 15 years of their marriage.
Karron was born on September 25, 1937, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Clara Marie and Samuel Shirley Jackson. She was the older of two children and always had a kind and close relationship with her brother, Wally.
She was raised in Salt Lake City, where her parents instilled in her a love for camping, boating, hunting, and fishing—interests she would later pass on to her own family. Karron attended Granite High School, where she excelled in art and cosmetology, earning her beautician’s training and license before graduation.
At age 17, during her senior year, Karron met Alan Curle Whittaker. She was a cute blue-eyed blonde, and he was a curly-haired Navy veteran with a darling little girl named Gayle. It wasn’t long before they fell in love and were married in the Salt Lake Temple on September 29, 1955—just four days after Karron’s 18th birthday.
Alan’s career in the baking industry led them to Portland, Oregon, where he accepted a position with Universal Foods Corp. For the next 30 years, they raised their six additional children there. During this time, Karron developed her lifelong passion for painting, particularly oil painting. Over the next 60 years, she created hundreds of works, many of which reflected outdoor and gospel-centered themes.
Karron loved serving the Lord as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She dedicated herself to various callings, including Primary, Cub Scouts, Young Womens, and Relief Society. She wholeheartedly supported her children and grandchildren in their many activities, from high school performing arts to athletics such as track and field, basketball, and gymnastics.
In 1985, following Alan’s retirement, they resettled in Covered Bridge Canyon, Utah. Karron continued her dedicated service to her church and family. She was an incredible homemaker who loved baking, travel, gardening, genealogy, and writing her family’s life histories. When she and Alan taught Sunday School, she was known for keeping the youth engaged by bribing them with chocolate-covered éclairs.
A highlight of Karron’s life came in 1993 when she and Alan were called to serve as Church History Site Missionaries in the New York, Palmyra Mission. She had the unique privilege of living in the Joseph Smith and Martin Harris homes. Even as a missionary, she continued her artwork, including a painting of the four historic churches on Main Street in Palmyra (First Baptist, Methodist, Episcopalian, and Presbyterian)—the same churches present during Joseph Smith’s time. She courageously arranged a special gift, presenting a framed print of this painting to the current pastors of each church. This act of goodwill was recognized in a feature by the “Church News.”
For many years, Karron lovingly took care of Alan as he suffered from Alzheimers as well as her mother, Clara, as she had experienced several strokes and needed full-time care. Karron’s example of selfless love and compassion towards them was truly remarkable.
In 2008, Alan and Clara passed away and Karron remained in Covered Bridge Canyon. She was then introduced to Clair Webster through their ward family home evening group. The two quickly bonded over shared experiences—each having lost a spouse to chronic illness. Their friendship deepened, and it wasn’t until Clair invited Karron on a fishing trip that love truly blossomed. They were sealed for time in the Salt Lake Temple on March 25, 2010. They often spoke of how they felt their late spouses had a hand in bringing them together and how they were meant to care for each other until their respective heavenly reunions.
Karron is survived by her loving husband, Clair Webster, her brother Samuel Wallace Jackson (Beatrice), and five of her children: Gayle Whittaker, Cindi Sainsbury (Sterling), Kay C. Whittaker (Heidi), Wendy Harris (Thomas), and William Whittaker (Celia).
She is also survived by 30 grandchildren: Todd (Annie), Tori (Kevin), Marcee, Stephen (Kristin), Darren (Jenny), Becky (Trent), Amber (Nik), Natalie, Jordan (Megan), Christopher (Jen), Haylee (Colter), Jenalee (Brooks), McKay (Malissa), Chandler, Quincy (Shinoahe), Avery (Tanner), Paige, Charlotte, Mackenzie (Chad), Macey (Brady), Miley (Malin), Bridger, Riley (Vickie), Austin, Olivia, Jace, Wesley (Rebekah), Michael (Sarah), and Jessica; 48 great-grandchildren: Felix, Zoe, Mckenna, Amberlee, Madison, Sidnee, Alexis, Jenna, Adaline, Bristol, Maverick, Stacy, Dakota, Addison, Henry, Lincoln, Echo, Scarlett, Indie, Anika, Skyler, Aspen, Bo, Talmage, Chloe, Nayvie, Gavin, Kamryn, Dawson, Rylan, Reagan, Emmie, Lucy, Amelia, Lillianna, Brielle, Logan, Gaines, Brooks, Leo, Winry, Rasmus, Evryn, Wrenly, Christopher, and Harper; and 1 great-great grandchild: Oaklee.
