Karen Raye Lowther Rupper 17 December 1949 – 1 September 2022
Karen graduated this life on 1 September 2022. She lived 72 years, 8 months, 15 days, 19 hours, and 19 minutes. A true accomplishment since she has battled with diabetes, multiple sclerosis, and lupus. She beat cancer, but later she would fight with congestive heart failure which was a result of the chemotherapy and it eventually ended her life.
She was born in Ogden, Weber, Utah on 17 December 1949 to Viola Marie Hill Lowther (Vi) and Harold Julius Lowther (Bud). She was the second to the oldest and had four siblings. Christine Gaye Lowther (Sorensen), Denise Kaye Lowther (Rasband), Jeffery Craig Lowther, Tamera Aliesa Faye Lowther (Simpson). They grew up in Ogden and moved to Provo where she attended school. She enjoyed going dancing, swimming, and loved animals. She loved sharing memories with her grandchildren. One of these was of visiting Grandpa Jones, because he would make them cookies (which she continued with her grandchildren). She was gifted artistically and would color and draw. On occasion she wrote poems. She loved her family immensely and would always check in daily to make sure they were safe and sound. If something was wrong she was the first person to get the help they needed.
Even in her later years God blessed her with the beauty of looking younger than her years. She was initially baptized in the Provo Congregational church and then later joined and lived a life to be proud of as a member of: The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a very caring and loving person. Whether it was a birthday call, a bear hug, or caring for dogs and cats both her own and the less fortunate.
She was preceded in death by her Sister Tamara Aliesa Faye Lowther Simpson in 2013 (Kevin), her brother Jeffery Craig Lowther in 2017 (Kimberly), her mother Viola Marie Hill Lowther in 2018, and her father Harold Julius Lowther in 1997.
She is survived by her loving husband Michael Reed Rupper, who she married 9 May 1969 in Provo, Utah. They were then sealed for eternity in the Mount Timpanogos Temple on 9 July 1999. Also her three living children; Michelle Lynn Rupper Condie (Don), Julie Ann Rupper Giles (Paul), and Curtis Reed Rupper (Susanna Wilson). Six grandchildren Brittney Condie , Colton Condie (April Hebden), Brandon Condie, Erica Condie, Tristin Giles (Sharon Adang), and Jorgan Giles. Seven great grandchildren: Andrew Condie, Noah Condie, Vivienne Condie, Mia Giles, Liam Giles, Stella Giles, and Gracelynn Giles and also her two sisters Christine Sorenson (David) and Denise Rasband. She will also be remembered by a number of nieces, nephews, and many friends who will never forget her love and treasured every moment with her. Till we meet again in God’s kingdom you will be greatly missed! Our beloved Mom, Grandma, and blessed friend.
We all knew this day would come, but we could never be prepared for the absence it would leave in our hearts… As we remember all the time and memories we have built with her over the years, her absence will be filled with love and joy. Whether it be remembering her making oatmeal cookies in the kitchen or getting creamed in Chinese checkers, spontaneously riding in the back of the truck to the mountains, or calling her every night to get her vitals and reminding her to take her pills; watching her read the scriptures unceasingly, listening to her break out in a song while in the middle of a sentence, learning to love people and animals the ways she did, or the unending hugs and kisses. This list goes on and on with moments in life that only she could create with us. Her presence will always be greatly missed more than she will ever know. And we can now say, “We love you more” 😉 We know she will make sure to correct that when we see her in the eternities. Thankful she was able to defying all the odds and the doctors so we could have this precious time with her We could never say it enough, but we love her with all our hearts Love your family!
Her services will be 17 September 2022. The viewing will from 10 – 10:45am and then the funeral will begin at 11 am at the Spanish Peak Ward Chapel, of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1552 East 750 South, Spanish Fork, 84660. At the conclusion of the services, friends and family who wish to attend, may then proceed to the Spanish Fork City Cemetery, where she will be buried at 420 S 400 E in Spanish Fork.

September 16, 2022 at 3:55 amTo Mike and Family,
Please know that we are still keeping you in our prayers.
It’s been so hard for me to not pick up the phone and talk to my dear sister Karen. I feel that we’ve been like sisters since we first met each other just after the Spanish Peak Ward was created.
Karen has been such a wonderful friend and it was very easy to express our love for each other.
She and I would talk, if not every day, then every other day. Almost with every conversation I would say something totally off the wall and she would laugh and say, “I needed to talk to you today”. We laughed and cried together often.
Oh, the huge void I have in my heart.
Our spirits spoke to each other, and it was so easy to share our love for the gospel and get into gospel conversations.
She has always had such a good heart, and said she just wanted to be like our Savior, which she certainly was. She would say every now and then that she was afraid she was going “Down” when she died. I would tell her that I didn’t plan on going down so when I saw her again, it would be “Up”. She would laugh and say, I hope you’re right. I knew I was right.
Thank you for the privilege of getting to know you as a family, and thank you for allowing us to share a friendship with you.
It was so very hard to know how she has suffered for so long and we’re thankful that she is at peace now.
This poem was meant for our dear Karen.
“COME WITH ME”
God saw she was getting tired
And a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around her
And whispered, “Come With Me”.
With tearful eyes we watched
her suffer and saw her fade away.
Although we loved her dearly
we would not make her stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
hardworking hands were laid to rest.
God broke our hearts to take from us,
and give her peaceful rest.
Our Dear Karen, we will love you forever and will be with you again!

September 20, 2022 at 7:02 pmJust learned of Karen’s passing. Love and sympathy to your family.
Knew Karen long ago when we both lived in the same apartment complex. Was happy to learn from Michelle when she recognized me in the Temple that her mom and dad had been sealed. How blessed we are to have the gospel in our lives.
