Karen was born in San Francisco, CA to Arthur and Wanda Mulhall. In 1948, when she was five, her family moved to San Carlos, CA where she lived until marrying her husband, James Campbell, in 1963. Karen and Jim left the San Francisco Bay Area in 1969 to raise their children in Sebastopol, CA.
Along with her husband of 62 years, she leaves behind her children Jim E, Kristin Jones (Greg), and Kevin (Kim) as well as grandchildren Garret (Megan), Logan, Ian (McKenzie) Jones and Sierra, Cheyenne, Adalee Campbell. She adored her new great grandson Graham. She was also recently blessed to add newly adopted grandchildren Dominick, Ryker, Zoey, and Enoch.
Her first love and priority has always been her family. Karen was a beautiful ballet dancer and danced from the age of five through most of her first pregnancy. A few years after having her second child she started a ballet school in Sebastopol in 1973 which continued through 1993. She cherished those years and was still in touch with many former students and families. She taught students with all abilities and never turned anyone away if they couldn’t pay. This is something she did throughout her life, always helping people. She was our example of charity and kindness.
In 1993 Karen and Jim made a big move from California to Orem, UT. A year after moving to Orem she started teaching ballet classes again and taught without charge in her church building. In 2006 they moved once again but not too far, settling in Spanish Fork, UT. She continued teaching classes in her Spanish Fork church building until 2016. She even joined her adult ballet students performing at the age of 61!
She happily served in church. She taught children, teens, and adults and even went to the yearly girls camp for many years while living in California. She volunteered as room mom, on field trips, served on the PTA, was a den mother, team mom and many other activities that came up in her children’s s schools. She supported all of her children in their various activities and was their biggest cheerleader. It is no exaggeration that Karen was truly loved by many people.
This wonderful lady was an example of love, acceptance, service, kindness, compassion, strength, and seeing the good in everyone. She has left an indelible mark on all of us who loved her and knew her. Our lives will feel her void but her memory will always live within us. We love you Karen, Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma.
Of course any show of love means so much to us but consider supporting your local dance school. Go see a performance, make a small donation, or sponsor a dance student in need.
Funeral services will be held at the River Stake Center located at 452 West 550 South, Spanish Fork, Utah on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.
