June Christensen LIVESTREAM

June Evelyn Clements Christensen returned to her Heavenly Parents and earthly parents on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at her home in Elk Ridge, Utah. June was born on July 1, 1952 to Beverly Bryson Clements and Joseph Clements Jr. in Glendale, California. She was their second child of five and their only daughter.

June spent her youth in North Hollywood and Yuba City, California. She was involved in 4H, FFA and the DECA clubs; winning dozens of local and statewide awards. June graduated from Yuba City High School in 1970.

She met Kenneth Rulon Christensen on September 27, 1972 at an LDS dance. Her children loved hearing the story about how Ken and June saw each other across a crowded room and knew that they would see each other again and again, just like in June’s favorite musical, South Pacific. They were engaged on January 8, 1973. They were married in Yuba City, California on May 19, 1973. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

Ken and June made their first home in Ruby Valley, Nevada on the Christensen family ranch. While living in Nevada they welcomed their first two children, Leona and Nadine. Ken and June moved back to Ken’s hometown of Spanish Fork, Utah before their third child, Weston was born. June endured many hardships while living on the ranch and building her home on the east bench of Spanish Fork. Melinda and Lyle were next to come along. Here they made their home for 30 years.

June may not have grown up to live her dream career – that of a stock car racer but she held the highest title anyone could have, that of mother. June taught her children valuable life skills like fixing cars, changing oil, packing wheel bearings and how to use tools. By her example, she taught her children to be resourceful, find good deals, and pinch pennies. She inspired her children to pursue higher education and community service.

In 1997, The Utah County Journal ran a front-page story describing June as the super woman of Utah County. The story talked about her devoted service to veterans, the American Legion and it’s Auxiliary and her extraordinary gift for money management.

Anyone that truly knew June had a witness of her exceptional generosity. She spent many long hours at the Spanish Fork Veterans building working with the American Legion Auxiliary and served in many leadership roles. She worked tirelessly fundraising tens of thousands of dollars over the years to benefit veterans. June would shop all year to provide Christmas gift baskets for veterans in assisted living homes. In later years Ken and June donated land and funds to Spanish Fork and Salem cities to build parks in their communities. They were honored in 2020 with the Salem Mayor’s Award in recognition of their concern, dedication and great example in serving others in the community.

June always had an adventurous side. She was a world traveler and studied extensively for each trip she took. She traveled all over Africa, Asia, Australia, Central America, Europe, Middle East, and North America. She loved meeting new people and learning about cultures and customs. Her most recent travels took her to the north shore of Oahu. There she and her eternal sweetheart celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with all five of their children, spouses, and grandchildren; with the exception of their oldest grandson currently serving as a missionary.

June was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Her faith in Jesus Christ sustained her as she struggled with several very difficult health conditions. She was extremely proud of her sons and grandson for serving faithful missions. She magnified every church calling. Her favorite calling was serving as Young Women’s President when her two oldest daughters were in the program. She was known for her activities like an all day Super Saturday where the girls made gifts for their families.

June is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth Christensen, her children, Leona Long, Nadine (Dave) Nelson, Weston (Amber) Christensen, Melinda (Jonathan) Turner, and Lyle Christensen; as well as her grandchildren: Emily, Colton, Noah, Luke, Joel, Melinda, Melissa, Melody. Samuel, Madeline and Maxwell. June is also survived by her brothers John (Iraiz) Clements and Jay (Gary) Clements. June had many loved ones that will feel the grief of her loss. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Beverly Clements and brothers Joseph Clements and James Clements.

June was very industrious and capable. She did so much to help my sister as National Miss Poppy through the American Legion Auxiliary. My mother Johanna was amazed at all June was able to accomplish. Johanna died a year ago in January. Surely these two amazing women are saying hello now on the other side.
Sending my love your way. 💕

June was the best person I could’ve ever worked for. She hired me to help keep her home clean. She would talk to me about her life and she loved to hear about my own. I looked forward to talking to her at work. She will definitely be missed!

    Philip Wallstedt says

June was a long time supporter of my mother’s school and she helped my mother sell her home. My mother was Joy Wallstedt (passed away in 2017). My mother told me June was “the first person to write her a check” and get her school started.
