John William Emmons

John William Emmons, 86 of Payson, Utah, died October 21, 2020 at his home. John was born October 25, 1933 in Provo, Utah, to John and Zeda Myrilda Jackson Emmons, he was the 5th child of 7. John graduated from Orem Lincoln High in 1952. He married Ardella Riley on August 20, 1955 in Provo. They were later sealed in the Provo Temple. She preceded him in death on July 9, 1995.
He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a carman and section hand for 38 years. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, being with his family and loved ones, playing baseball, bowling, volleyball, going for walks and talking to people.
He is survived by 6 children: Cathy (Josh) Twitchell, Gene Emmons both of Provo, Utah; Lora Balzly of Rock Springs, Wyoming; Donna Emmons of Payson, Utah; Patty Emmons of Herndon, Virginia; and Jeff Emmons of Uintah South Ogden, Utah; sister Uleda Gause, of Provo, Utah; 17 grandchildren: Cora Emmons; Leslie Twitchell; Joseph Bering; Andy Balzly; LeRoy Emmons; Hollie (Marty) Hull; Melinda Chavez; Tina Montague; Kellie (Ruth) Twitchell; Emmalie (William) Gull; Julie St. Onge; Rylie Twitchell; Elizabeth Emmons; Marissa Emmons; Alex Emmons; Gage Emmons, 26 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ardella, daughter Shela Emmons, 2 grandsons Cody J. Emmons and Kim L. Montague, 1 granddaughter Samantha J. Emmons; 3 sisters and 2 brothers: Marelda Williamson, Eugene Emmons, Beverly Keck, J. Robert Emmons, Zeda Emmons, and his grandparents.
A viewing will be held on Friday, October 30, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, Payson. A graveside service will be at the Payson City Cemetery at 12:15 p.m.

he Emmons family will also have the interment of John’s daughter and his grandson (Shela’s son) the same day.
