John “Pat” Patterson January 10, 1944 - July 28, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, John “Pat” Patterson, on July 28th, 2022. Pat was 78 years old and is survived by his wife of 57 years, Suzanne Patterson, his children Daniel Patterson, Cindy Patterson-Muir, Steve Patterson, and Nanci Patterson, and his 8 grandchildren. Pat and Suzi lived and raised their family in Huntington Beach California, until moving to Utah in 1989. Pat worked as a mechanic all his adult life, owning several service shops in both California and Utah. Cars were his passion, and he regularly had a “project car” taking up space in the garage or driveway, often to Suzi’s frustration. Pat was devoted to the LDS faith and was actively involved in his church and community. He was quick to smile and loved celebrating birthdays and holidays with his family and friends, which usually involved a pool party, barbecue, and homemade ice cream. He loved classic cars, ham radio, fishing, camping, and working with the Boy Scouts of America. Father, husband, mentor, and friend, Pat will be missed by everyone who had the great pleasure to know him.

Funeral services will be held at Walker Funeral Home in Spanish Fork, 187 South Main Street on Wednesday, Aug. 3rd at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends may attend a visitation from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services.

Pat was a gentle giant. He was always so cheerful even with his physical challenges the last years of his life. He was a devoted and kind husband to Suzi and a joy to everyone at covington. Branch President Jeff Lauder

I worked for Pat in California many many years ago. I was sad to hear of his passing. What a wonderful man he was he did teach me a lot about how to be a good person. Pat did touch many people in his life. I tried to look him up once in a while over the years. Sadly I was a little too late. The video was really great to see, and I offer my condolences to the family and for the loss of Suzi.

This very day, I scanned a photo of my father and a couple guys (one is Pat) on a trip to the High Uintas in 1963. My father was Jim Hill who moved to Utah in 1965, and was a banker in his career. Dad passed in October 2018. I’d sure like to share the scan. I’ll leave my email…
