Johanna Flynn Draper Flynn (October 10, 1938 – January 29, 2022), wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully this past Saturday surrounded by loving family.

Johanna was born in Lexington, Kentucky, the only daughter of Chestin Herald and Mary Josephine Draper. She graduated from Grant County High in 1956 and the University of Kentucky in 1961. Johanna loved her country and was proud of her father’s military service, including as a U.S. Air Force colonel, and her mother’s master teaching abilities.
Johanna married her eternal sweetheart, Richard Dennis Flynn, on April 24, 1969, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Johanna lived throughout the United States and Germany, residing the last 41 years in Spanish Fork, Utah, but she never stopped pining for her old Kentucky home or cheering for her beloved UK Wildcats.

Johanna had a green thumb and loved animals, music, and dancing. She was an educator and taught in Kentucky and Utah before raising four children. Johanna joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1967. She lived and shared her testimony, including through her book, “Visiting Teaching: A Call to Serve.” Johanna was a frequent public speaker and served in various LDS Church callings, but she loved teaching best including decades of service as a visiting teacher and as a service missionary together with Dennis at the Missionary Training Center in Provo.

In returning to her Heavenly Father, Johanna leaves a legacy of family, friends, and many others whose lives are impacted for good by her love for and conviction of a living Savior. Johanna is survived by her husband, Dennis; her children Sarah (Nathan) Barlow, Dennis (Sarah) Flynn, Danville (Tara) Flynn, and Molly (Shane) Mount; her grandchildren Josh, Mack, Ella, Julie, and Calvin Barlow; Maggie and Miles Flynn; Joyce, Rock, Ben, Jolene, Ephraim, and Eliza Flynn; and Savannah, Duke, Matix, and Mercedes Mount. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Johanna’s family would like to especially thank Aspen Ridge Hospice for their professional and loving care. Thank you to Andrea, Anita, Gabrielle, Tom, Noel, Luis, and Charity.
A visitation will be held Friday, February 4, 2022, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Kimball LDS Chapel, 1750 East 750 South, Spanish Fork, Utah 84660. Funeral services will be Saturday, at 11:00 a.m. at the same location, with visitation from 9:45 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow the services at the Spanish Fork Cemetery, 420 South 400 East.
