Joel Franklin Thomas died on October 6, 2025, in Draper, Utah. He was born on June 12, 1969, to Rulon A. Thomas and Bonnie Haycock.
He is survived by his children, Nicholas Joel Thomas and Anna ChristineThomas; his former spouse, Traci Beckstrand Thomas; his mother, Bonnie Edwards; and his sister, Leca Hicken. He was preceded in death by his father Rulon A Thomas, infant sister
Christine Thomas and brother-in-law Bret Hicken.
Joel was deeply loved by his family, friends, coworkers, and nearly everyone he met on the golf course. Known for his sharp wit and generous spirit, he brought laughter and warmth to those around him. He worked tirelessly to provide a good life for his children, often putting their needs before his own. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled—hard work, humor, and a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys.
He had a unique sense of humor that he passed on to his children, and a strong work ethic that shaped their lives. Joel believed in giving your all to what matters and not sweating the small stuff—everything in moderation. Though there were adventures they never got to share, like hunting for diamonds in Arkansas or traveling to Japan, his children will carry those dreams forward with him in spirit.
In accordance with Joel’s wishes, no formal services will be held.
He will be missed beyond measure and remembered with love.

November 19, 2025 at 10:38 pmI went to college with Joel at USU and roomed with him one year. One of the funniest people I’ve ever known with his quick with and sense of humor. A genuine good person. I still remember the basketball games with him at the elementary school south of main street in Logan. God speed, rest in peace Joel.
