Joe Ray Jarvis, age 67, passed away unexpectedly December 22, 2021. He was born March 23, 1954, to J. Allan and Dixie Jarvis. He grew up in Spanish Fork and graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1972.

Joe married Kelly Miller; they later divorced. Together they had a daughter, Lindsay (estranged).

Joe met the love of his life and his “forever sweetie,” Karla Johnson. They were married June 30, 1987. Together, they were blessed with three great kids: Karlee Jo, Jarrett Joe, and McKennon Joe; and four sweet grandchildren: Lennox Jenna, Kash J, Presley Kay, and Josie Rae.

After graduating high school, Joe apprenticed building houses with Paul Larsen where he became a master craftsman. It was then that he took his skill set and started his own company, Joe R. Jarvis Construction. Throughout his career, he built, remodeled, and added onto many homes. Joe was adored by many people whom he called “his people.” He has put his touch on many homes throughout his community, and many claimed him as “their Joe.” He took pride in his work, and he never left a job less than perfect. Many people have apprenticed under Joe, including his two sons.

Joe joined the Spanish Fork Fire Department in 1988. During his fire career, he held the ranks of fireman, Captain, and was currently serving as the Fire Marshal. Outside of fire and rescue calls, he took pride in serving the community. He enjoyed attending school events, firework shows, duck races, and never missed the opportunity to bring home a state championship team.

Joe was most happy watching his boys play baseball and spent many Sundays practicing with them at the ballpark. He coached several baseball teams and inspired many players through his positive and uplifting attitude. He cherished listening to his daughter play the piano and attended countless dance and cheer competitions. He treasured spending time spoiling, and teasing, his grandkids.

He also enjoyed watching “shoot ‘em up” movies, puttering around in his garage, and the occasional Mesquite trip with his sweetie, and good friends, Vern and Angie.  Family meant everything to Joe. He was his kids’ number one fan.

He is survived by his loving wife, Karla Jarvis; and his three children: Karlee Jo Hansen (Zachary), Jarrett Joe Jarvis (Jenna), and McKennon Joe Jarvis (Allie); and by his four grandchildren. Also survived by his siblings: Brent (Kathy), Steven (Corliss), Blake (Sharon), Jeff (Judy), Laurie (Jerry) Purkey, and Natalie. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Peggy Johnson Braithwaite; and many other loved ones .
