Joanne Karen Holdaway Rosenbaum, age 64 passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, in Spanish Fork, Utah surrounded by her loving family after gracefully enduring many years of medical challenges.
Joanne was born in Santa Barbara, California to Lynn Claudius Holdaway and Karen Davenport Day on September 28, 1960, as the oldest daughter. She grew up in Santa Barbara, California and Hawaii where she enjoyed softball and participating in the church choir. She graduated from Kalaheo High School in Oahu, Hawaii in 1979 and spent time attending Brigham Young University-Hawaii. She served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Australia Melbourne Mission, after which she moved to Provo Utah and met Kent Rosenbaum.
She married her sweetheart Kent Blake Rosenbaum on November 30, 1984, in the Salt Lake Temple. Joanne and Kent built a loving home in Spanish Fork, UT where they raised their family.
Joanne was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and a wonderful homemaker. Her home was always filled with love, support, and laughter. Without fail she was always available to help her children solve any problem they were struggling with or to just provide a listening ear and a message of love and encouragement, including during long hours of homework. She was witty and instilled a love of jokes and good humor in her children. Joanne was the epitome of consistency. When she set her mind to a task, she diligently continued until her goal was accomplished. She taught everyone around her the meaning of hard work and how to persistently push through hard times, and she did so with a smile on her face and twinkle in her eye.
Joanne loved to spend her time sewing and created many beautiful and intricate quilts as well as clothing for herself and her family. She especially enjoyed creating heartfelt personalized quilts for her family, particularly for special life events such as weddings and the births of grandchildren. She was eager to improve her sewing skills and actively attended workshops to hone her craft. Joanne was also known for her baking and cooking, which she loved to do for her family.
Joanne was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved reading the Book of Mormon. She enjoyed serving in the church, faithfully fulfilling many callings. Some of her favorite opportunities were being a temple worker at the Payson Temple, a tour guide for the Provo Tabernacle, a Cub Scout leader, an Activities Day leader, and a devoted ministering sister. Joanne was always willing to make a meal for other families in need. She liked and devoted many hours working on family research.
Joanne is survived by her loving husband Kent Rosenbaum and her four adoring children: Daven (Kathleen) Rosenbaum, Michelle Rosenbaum, Holly Rosenbaum, and Ben (Molly) Rosenbaum, and four tender grandchildren James Rosenbaum, Presley Rosenbaum, Mitchell Rosenbaum, and MJ Rosenbaum. Joanne is also survived by her stepmother Virginia Holdaway, stepfather Jim (Gloria) Frescas and her siblings: Lynnette (Wayne) Huber, Philip (Sonia) Holdaway, Paul (Renee) Holdaway, stepsiblings Catherine “Kit” (Galen) Yack, Debbie (John) Frescas-Sorenson, Ralph (Christine) Frescas, and half-brothers David (Kim) Taylor, and Brian (Brandi) Holdaway. She was preceded in death by her parents Lynn Holdaway and Karen Frescas.

March 1, 2025 at 5:56 pmRosenbaum family members,
I want to express my sincere condolences for the loss of your beloved Joanne. As a member of our Hidden Oakes Branch at the Hearthstone Manor, we could always feel her sweet spirit. We love her and will miss having her with us. I know something of what Joanne has gone through in mortality. My valiant wife of nearly 40 years passed away in 2018 after a 34-year battle with MS. While her body became more and more broken through the years, her spirit was always strong, just like your Joanne. May the comforting Spirit of the Holy Ghost bring you the peace you desire.
