Joanne Dart Jones Funeral Service

Joanne Dart Jones, 90, a lifetime resident of Spanish Fork, UT passed away surrounded by her family on 21 February 2024. Joanne was born in Spanish Fork, Utah 15 April 1933 on her Grandmother Clara’s dining room table, to Paul E. and Blanche Rigtrup Dart. She was the oldest of 3 children. She and her two brothers, Paul R and Rodney, have remained close. She attended Spanish Fork High School graduating in 1951, where she met and later married her sweetheart Lynn E. Jones on 25 February 1953. They would have celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary this month. Together Joanne and Lynn welcomed 5 children: Jolynne (Kevin Coon), Ross (deceased), Jennifer Gillman (Jeff Wolf), Tim (Liz) and Nan (Jeff Peterson).

Joanne had many jobs throughout her life: babysitter, store clerk, bakery assistant, to name a few, but spent most of her career within Nebo School District which included secretary, lunch lady, librarian, recess monitor, and bus supervisor. She ended her District career as the payroll clerk responsible for getting everyone paid on time. In each job, her favorite part was always the people and the relationships she developed and enjoyed throughout her lifetime. Joanne loved Spanish Fork. She was a dedicated community member who while working would also serve in many civic capacities, including serving on the Fire Ladies Auxiliary, SF Community Library Board, and many different callings as a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Into retirement she continued to serve as a Pink Lady at Mountain View Hospital, as a member of Nebo Credit Union Supervisory Committee, and anywhere else she was needed.

Of all of Joanne’s interests, her favorite was supporting and serving her family. She attended any and many events as often and possible as she could, if she couldn’t attend, she was texting to find out the status. With 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and many nieces/nephews, Joanne’s social calendar was always full. While we honor her passing, we know she is being celebrated by many family and friends who have preceded her in death, including a cherished grandson Kaylen and a son Ross. Joanne left a treasured legacy for her family and community which will be remembered for generations to come.

I was so sad to hear about this special lady’s passing. To me she will always be Mrs. Jones. I first met her when I was in the third grade at Lake Shore School where she was a secretary. She was always kind and had a smile on her face. I remember having several talks with her and asking her all kinds of questions. She always had time for me. After third grade whenever I saw her, she always said hi to me and asked how I was doing. As old as I am now, it always impressed me that she remembered my name. I will never forget the impact she had on me. My prayers and thought are with the Jones family at this time.

I got to know Joanne through Spanish Fork Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She had a magnetic personality and was so fun to be around. It’s hard to believe she was 90 years old, she was so full of happy energy. Love and condolences to all of the family. She will be missed!

Lynn and family, We are saddened by this news. We just saw this tonight. Joanne is a great lady. She was so much fun when she served on the Utah State Firefighters’ Auxiliary Board with me. She was one of the Trustees that year. It was always fun to run into you at Sam’s Club and see you both at fire meetings. We appreciate your friendship through the years. We hope for your comfort as you remember Joanne always. All our love, Roger and Sherri
