JoAn Hermansen, born July 16, 1935, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Peter Ammon Hermansen and Lula Wayne Tietjen Hermansen.
JoAn was a loving, caring, daughter and sister. She taught elementary education in the Jordan school district for over 40 years. She served in many capacities in her ward in Murray, Utah, where she lived for more than 60 years. As a Relief Society President, she was an example to all those around her, relentlessly serving her neighbors, her adopted Brunson family, and the members of her ward. She was a gifted pianist and organist and loved to provide the accompaniment for
church services and choirs. She was loved by many and will be missed by many.
As the last in her direct lineage of Hermansen’s, she is preceded in death by her parents, sister Lula Beth, and brother Gerald.
Graveside services will be held at Spanish Fork City Cemetery, 420 South 400 East in Spanish Fork, Utah, on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, she would love to know that contributions were made to the Perpetual Education Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

January 14, 2025 at 5:10 pmSis Hermansen was a true servant of our Heavenly Father. She visited my sister, Jane Wiseman, faithfully every Sunday evening while she was in a care facility. She spent at least a hour keeping her informed of what was going on in the ward. She never missed a Sunday unless she was out of town. Jane’s family loved her and appreciated her great example of service.
She was and angel and is a great loss to all who knew her..
With sincere sympathy

January 15, 2025 at 2:01 amDear friends and family of JoAn,
This sweet sister was at Abbington for a short time, but we felt her sweetness and goodness in those few weeks. She was a gem! We’re sorry to hear of her passing, and send much prayer and love. Love, The Hillside Branch, LDS at Abbington.

March 25, 2026 at 7:26 pmI feel really bad because I wondered what happened to JoAn and found this obituary. She was a great friend and always made me and everyone around her feel welcome. I couldn’t have a big wedding due to covid and she supported me for my wedding lunch. She’s a very caring and loving person. Til we meet again JoAn.
