Jo Ann Corbin was born on May 7, 1945, in Harrisburg, PA to Martha Rountree Moss and Alvin John Paskewich.
She was raised in Spring Hope, NC and graduated from Spring Hope High School. From there she attended Gardner Webb College, East Carolina University and Mars Hill College. While at Mars Hill, she met her future husband Richard Corbin on a blind date arranged by her roommate in March 1967. In July of the same year, they were married and traveled the country to various duty stations and one overseas tour when Richard served while in the U.S. Navy for 30 years. While stationed in California in 1970 they joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Shortly after joining the church, they were stationed in Guam for three years. On rotation to the states, the family stopped in Hawaii and were sealed for all time and eternity in the Hawaii temple.
When her husband was deployed, she held the home together and raising three children, busy with sports and extracurricular activities of their school and church. Jo Ann served in many callings in the church as her health would allow. They settled in Virginia Beach for many years but moved west to Payson to be closer to family. She loved her children, and always enjoyed having family around her and sharing family stories. She shared many good recipes of southern cooking with the family and great stories. As a true North Carolina girl, she loved Nags Head, and anywhere on the Outer Banks, Carolina barbeque, Brunswick stew, red cardinals, and dogwood trees.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years James Richard Corbin, two sons James Matthew Corbin, daughter in law Simone (Sindy) Marie Schwab, Richard Nathan Corbin, and daughter in law Kochagoran (Koch) Jenarewong of Payson. She is the proud grandmother of grandchildren Dolly Elizabeth (Rex) Corbin, Aurelia Ann (Skiter) Chappell, Whillemenia Chappell, Ty Lance Corbin, Annabelle Mae Corbin, Shandi (Corbin) Bradford, and sister Martha Moss (Patsy) Ball.
She was preceded in death by daughter Margaret Annette Chapman, her mother, and grandparents, Otway Binns Moss and Dolly Edwards.
Her infectious laugh, love for family and compassion for others is sorely missed. She was supportive and encouraging, a sympathetic listener with mutual adoration for and from her grandchildren, a true “Ray of Sunshine “. We know she is with Heavenly Father and is working hard at the tasks she has been assigned.
