Jesse Lavern Wilson passed away at home on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. He was 2 months from his 96th birthday and one week from celebrating his 70th wedding anniversary with his wife, Shirley.
He was born in Winnsboro, SC on October 8, 1930, to Jesse David Wilson and Lepearless Tanner Wilson. He has 2 brothers, Lafaye (Joan) and Theron (Joyce) one sister, Genevieve Morris (George).
He spent 5 years in the navy then attended and graduated from BYU with a degree in Political Science and economics.
J married Shirley Kay Morgan on August 20, 1956. They have 3 children, Chad (Susan), Lori, Craig (Wendy), 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife and grandchildren, and brother, Theron.
J was a loving son. He cared for his parents in their later years. He loved his wife, children, and grands. He played silly games and made-up words with his grands. He loved watching his children and grands participate in in sports, music, and dance.
J enjoyed gardening, especially his roses. Until recently he had a large vegetable garden and cared for it daily.
He is loved and missed.
J’s funeral will be held Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 11am with a viewing from 10am – 10:45 am. The church is located at 870 E Canyon Rd, Spanish Fork, UT.
Interment will be at Provo City Cemetery.
