Jerry Lee Romero September 26, 1940 - April 18, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jerry Lee Romero, age 84, of Spanish Fork, UT, on Friday, April 18th, 2025, at his home with family by his side.

He was born on September 26, 1940 to Earl Leroy Romero and Cora Gull Romero, in Spanish Fork, UT.  He has lived in his home for over 70 years raising, guiding and protecting his family.  He attended Spanish Fork High School and continued his education at Utah Trade Technical College in Orem, UT, receiving his welding certifications.

He married Connie Rees Romero, where they had 3 children – Karla, Bodie and Abbie.  While raising their family, Jerry worked for Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe as a welder until his retirement.

He was a beacon of warmth and love that helped stabilize everyone around him, during the calm times as well as the rough. A Smile and a chair could always be found with him.  He was always a rest from the world when you needed it the most.

He was a kind, loving and talented person.  Always surrounded by friends. Jerry was vibrant and full as the music he loved to play.  A talented trumpet player, guitarist and vocalist, he lived for music and the outdoors. He started deer hunting with his father and passed it down through his own family.  He was very close to his grandfather, John Lawrence Romero.  They could often be found hunting and fishing in his youth.  He was close to his brother and childhood best friend, Randy Romero.  Learning from his own grandfather he later became an extraordinary grandfather himself.  As caregiver and protector he found his kind and gentle heart from his mother Cora.  As a loving brother he often carried his family through hard times.  His spirit will be felt at Fairview Lakes, and in the country music we remember him by. For many years he enjoyed being the lead vocalist and lead guitarist in his band “The Road Runners”.  He was a long-time member of the motorcycle club “The Wanderers”, where he and his wife would go on numerous outings on their bikes with club members. Jerry and his family enjoyed going on the Moab Jeep Safari every Easter, from one of the first safari they had and continuing on for about 20 years after.

Jerry’s most proud and loved moments in his life were of his grandchildren.  He never missed a baseball or basketball game, a school performance, motocross race or a fishing trip.  He will be deeply missed by them all.

Loved by so many, he is survived by his son, Bodie Jerry Romero, daughter, Abbie Lee (Vance) Sorensen, his 7 grandchildren – Jeris Ron Hughes, Broden Thomas (Haley) Hughes, Ryler Dean Hughes, Kodie King (Julia) Romero, Karlee Ann (Kaden) Draper, Hayden Vance Sorensen, Chaz Conlee Sorensen and step granddaughter – Tennette (Will) Possinger. Four great grandchildren, with one on the way, and four step great grandchildren.   Sister, Judy Kay (Ronald) Watkins.  Brother, Jeffery John Romero.  Sister-in-law, Susan Taylor (Randy) Romero, Brother-in-law, Ronald (Coreen) Linton, and many nieces and nephews which he dearly loved.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Rees Romero, daughter, Karla Kim Hughes.  His parents, Earl Leroy Romero and Cora Gull Romero.  Sister, Coreen Sylvia (Ronald) Linton.  Brother, Randy Earl (Susan Taylor) Romero. Brother-in-law, Ronald (Judy) Watkins.

A viewing will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 24th, 2025, at Walker Morturary at 187 S Main Street, Spanish Fork, UT, with graveside services following immediately after at the Spanish Fork Cemetery at 420 S 400 E, Spanish Fork, UT.
