Jerrie Sorensen Fackrell, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away on March 12, 2025 at her home in Sutherland, Utah, at the young age of 85. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her dear parents, Ivan J Sorensen and Hazel Darle Morgan Sorensen, her cherished sister, Lee Ann, as well as her sweet sister-in-law, Claudia Sorensen and great-granddaughter Adelaide Heywood.
Born in Hiawatha, Utah, Jerrie was the first child of Ivan and Darle. She had two sisters, Peggy (Bob) Lamoreaux and Lee Ann (deceased); 2 brothers, Rodger (Claudia, deceased) Sorensen and Alan (Debbie) Sorensen; and a cousin raised as a brother, Denny (Mani) Sorensen. While attending Provo High School and working at her father’s drugstore, Jerrie met the love of her life, Keith R Fackrell. Their union, sealed in the Manti LDS Temple, brought forth a legacy of love and devotion through their five children: David (Lisa) Fackrell, Diane (Mark) Hatch, Linda (Mark) Heywood, Laura (Rob Raty) Fackrell, and Susan (Dan) Howard. This family grew to include 19 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren, all of whom were enriched by Jerrie’s joy and creativity.
Jerrie had a rich life, living in Hiawatha, Pocatello, Elko, and Provo before settling in Panguitch for 18 years. Eventually, they returned to the Fackrell family farm in Springville, where she cherished the visits from her grandchildren, introducing them to the wonders of farm life and all its animals, both wild and domestic.
A woman of many talents, Jerrie was a skilled pianist, a dedicated newspaper reporter and editor for the Garfield County News, and an avid rock hound, actively involved in the Timpanogos Gem and Mineral Society. Her leadership within the local Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and her passion for genealogy brought to life the stories and songs of her ancestors, as she believed in the importance of family history. Her family truly came to know and love their ancestors. She also enjoyed horseback riding with Keith through many stunning mountains of Utah.
Jerrie was known for her unwavering faith, devotion, commitment and boundless energy; if asked to walk a mile, she would surely walk two. Her creativity shone brightly, including the many clothes she sewed for her family, the homemade gifts and board games she made, and her innovative gardening skills, tailored to the unique challenges of Panguitch’s short growing season. She even successfully
grew tomatoes there.
Jerrie Sorensen Fackrell will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew and loved her.
As we reflect on her legacy, we trust that if we listen closely, we will hear sweet melodies with Jerrie accompanying heavenly choirs.
In memory of Jerrie, the family invites all to wear bright, cheerful colors to her memorial service to celebrate her vibrant life.
To Dr. Dekker and all the friends and neighbors who gave so much support and service during Jerrie’s time in Sutherland, and also to each team member from Intermountain Hospice of Fillmore/Delta who came aboard in Mom’s final days, we offer deep, heart-felt gratitude for making it possible to give our wife and mom dignity and love in her passing.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 1965 Canyon Road, Springville, Utah. Prior to the funeral, there will be two visitations at the church, where family and friends may gather, the first being on Thursday evening, March 20, 2025 from 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm, and the second on Friday morning, March 21,
2025 from 9:30 a.m. till 10:30 a.m.

March 15, 2025 at 3:25 pmJerrie is a great friend who will be missed by many. Joan and I were just talking about the horseback rides you both took with her—even me one time! We had fun times on New Year’s Eve, and Jerie always had beautiful smiles and a positive, friendly countenance. Jerie was “Kindness.” Thank you for the 30 years of friendship. We love you! March 20, 2025 at 6:12 pmSister Fackrell was my primary teacher and we made an epic trip as a class with our parents to SLC. We earned all the money we would need and got to see amazing things little girls from Panguitch would never get to see in those days. It built our testimonies and brought us closer as friends and families.. she has been a shining example. Condolences to all of her family. She rode to heaven on a silver cloud and is welcomed with cheers and love.

March 21, 2025 at 4:16 pmJerrie has been an amazing example of love and devotion to family. She took our family into her fold in the early 90s and has been Grandma ever since. She was giving and loving to everyone. I loved seeing her doing genealogy…it was always on her desk as she searched for those who have gone before her. She will beet with so many grateful souls for all the work she did here. She raised an amazing family and they also continue the tradition of family and unity.
Yes, she will be missed by many, but what a blessing it was to have known her and be a part of her life.
Love to all of the family, you have a strong angel watching over you.
