Jeneil Blamires Johns November 28, 1942 - June 27, 2023

Jeneil Blamires Johns was born on November 28, 1942 to Clifford Cottrell Blamires and Kathleen Annie O’Neil Blamires. She was the oldest child with two younger brothers, Kent and Kevin.

Jeneil and her family lived in Kaysville, Utah in the same home throughout her entire upbringing. She attended elementary, junior high, and high school in Kaysville. In her youth, Jeneil enjoyed traveling with her family, and would often recall their summer vacations to various places in the western United States. Jeneil’s maternal and paternal grandparents all lived nearby. She was able to grow up having relationships with each of them, as well as with aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Once graduated from high school, Jeneil attended Stevens-Henagar Business College. Upon completion, she was hired as a secretary for the Hill Air Force Base Civil Engineering Division.  She worked there for 12 years until she was introduced to Richard Johns on a blind date.  A few months later, Jeneil married Richard in the Salt Lake Temple on October 8, 1974. She gave up her typewriter and moved to Clover Valley, Nevada where she took on the many jobs required to keep a house running and cattlemen fed on the KC Ranch that the Johns owned and operated. She quickly adapted to ranch life, and loved living on the beautiful Humboldt Mountain Range.

A couple of years into their marriage, their first child, Jennifer was born. Then came a son, Brian, and a second son, Kyle.  Shortly after Kyle’s birth, Richard took a job with Deseret Meat in Utah. The family moved to Hooper, Utah for 3 years, then settled in Elberta, Utah, where they raised their young family.

Jeneil continued the tradition of her childhood with her own family in carefully planning and setting out on summer vacations to various locations in the Western United States. Jeneil was never too busy to read to her children, a hobby that she enjoyed herself. Her family always had a home cooked meal prepared, and she made many entrees and baked goods from scratch.  Jeneil’s traditional secret family recipe of English Teacakes is still highly sought after. Before marrying, Jeneil took classes on cake decorating, and often made beautiful and creative cakes for all occasions.

Jeneil’s love for traveling took her on many trips during young adulthood and after retirement. She greatly enjoyed reading. She usually carried a book wherever she went, but her favorite hobby was music. Music was an important part of her life. Blessed with a lovely soprano voice, she sang in many groups and choirs, as well as directed choirs in different LDS wards that she lived in.  She is fondly remembered for the many beautiful Christmas and Easter programs she arranged, and for the way the music touched the hearts of the choirs and congregations. Christmas was Jeneil’s favorite time of year, not just for the music, but also the decorations, and overall joyous spirit of the season.

As Jeneil’s children grew older, she took a job with Sears Teleservice where she worked and made many good friends over the next decade. With Richard’s retirement approaching, they decided to build a home and settle in Spanish Fork, Utah for their senior years. They lived there for just over 22 years.

Jeneil was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She served in many capacities and callings. She had a firm belief in the principles of the Gospel, and a conviction to live them.  She held herself to a high level of morals and standards, with incredible integrity.

Jeneil’s health began to decline shortly after her 80th birthday.  After 6 months of various illnesses and complications from a serious fall, she passed away on June 27, 2023 surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her husband, Richard, children: Jennifer (Jeff) Robinson, Kyle (Kandice) Johns, 4 granddaughters: Caitlyn Cody, Brooke Robinson, Brynn Robinson, Amanda (Siaosi) Mataele, and 1 great grandson, Fehi Mataele, brothers: Kevin (Debbie) Blamires, Kent (Gayle) Blamires, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Brian Johns, and her parents.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 8, at 11:00 a.m. in the LDS Church located at 1850 South 2300 East, Spanish Fork, UT.

I very much enjoyed knowing Jeneil. She is a gracious and delightful woman. She was very pleasant to be with and enjoyed conversations about life and experiences. She liked my Pumpkin chocolate cookies. She will be missed.
