With heavy hearts, we gather as a family to announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Jason Arthur Pledger was born on March 6, 1981 in Provo, UT and passed through the veil on Saturday March 2, 2024.
Jason graduated from Orem High School in 1999, where soon thereafter he met his wife Autumn Thomas. They were married in the Salt Lake City Temple on March 20th, 2004 and together they had four beautiful children; Adalynn Jaye Pledger (19), Isaac Arthur Pledger (16), Molly Ann Pledger (14) and Vivienne Kelly Pledger (7). Jason spent 25 years in the construction industry, which he first started out by framing his parents home in Mapleton, UT. From there, he graduated from Utah Valley University with a bachelors in construction management and worked his way up to a Heavy Civil Construction Management position for hundred million dollar water resource projects. His career took him and his family to Durango, CO, Farmington, NM, and finally to Boise, ID where he worked with the Bureau of Reclamation for the latter part of his construction career.
Jason was the epitome of selflessness. He always had an open home to his friends and family, hosting holidays and big events like the SuperBowl (Go Broncos). He was extremely generous in helping family, and you could always count on him to support any event you had. Towards the latter years of his life, Jason was able to get around in his black ferrari wheelchair. Although he was in a wheelchair, he went to every single soccer practice, cheer competition, drove all the way to Utah for a football championship, and many many more. There truly was no better supporter.
As good of a supporter as he was, he was also incredibly competitive. Jason was known for his gamer tag “Blackcloud” and earned himself the title “King of Catan” once or twice. There were many nights that bled into early mornings playing Settlers of Catan, Risk or Poker. Jason, since a very young age, also enjoyed the outdoors. Countless days with his parents and siblings fishing, hunting, camping, riding ATV’s and hiking the slot canyons of Southern Utah. He would wake up in the wee hours of the morning to endure the heat of the summer or the cold, icy winter without complaint.
Later in Jason’s life, he was diagnosed with Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy. As the years passed by, it increasingly got worse and life became slightly more difficult for Jason with age. As debilitating as the MMD was, it never stopped him from doing what he loved and supporting those he loved. Jason overcame countless obstacles due to the MMD and is the perfect example of perseverance.
Although it’s difficult to compile almost 43 years of life in one document, it will never do justice to the person that Jason was. His influence, teachings and legacy will live on through his children and every life he touched. Jason lived a life of generosity, wit, love and selflessness, and we should strive to Be Like Jay every day.
Jason is survived by: his wife, Autumn Pledger, and his children Adalynn (Addie) 19, Isaac 16, Molly 14 and Vivienne (Viv) 7. His parents Curtis and Donna Pledger, his sister Brooke (Imua)Fonohema, his sister Michelle (Drew)Crenshaw, and his brother Mark (Stephanie)Pledger. He is an uncle to 16 nieces and nephews, 7 furbabies and a great uncle to 6 great nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Friday March 8th from 6:30-8:00 PM and Saturday March 9th from 9:45-10:45 AM at Walker Funeral Home Spanish Fork 187 S Main St, Spanish Fork, UT 84660 Proceeding the celebration of life at 11:00 a.m., the burial services will be at Mapleton City Cemetery 620 W Maple St, Mapleton, UT 84664.
Thank you everyone for your continued support and love during this time. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to help with the cost of the funeral.

March 5, 2024 at 7:57 pmOn behalf of the Bureau of Reclamation’s CPN Regional Construction Engineering Group, please accept our deepest condolences at this difficult time. Jason worked as a Contract Administrator for our group for well over a decade, eventually becoming the Boise Group Chief. He dealt fairly with government, shareholder, and contractor organizations alike and was highly respected in all circles. His institutional knowledge was sought after on many occasions and by colleagues near and far, and his professionalism and dedication to the mission played a large role in bringing many projects to successful completion. His dedication to his family was admired by all. Perhaps most inspiring was the courage he showed in the face of extreme physical challenges. We are grateful for the opportunity we had to work with him. Thank you for sharing him with us. He will not be forgotten.
