Janet Hill Scott January 25, 1931 - September 4, 2023

Janet Hill Scott passed away in the early hours of Monday, September 4, 2023, surrounded by family members who love her very much.

Janet was born on January 25, 1931, to Willis Raymond Hill and Lucy Levanger Hill in Spanish Fork UT. Janet, her sister Diane, and brother Jerry were raised on the family farm in Spanish Fork. They were taught the value of hard work, the importance of being honest, and the love and loyalty of family.

Janet graduated from the Spanish Fork High School. After graduation Janet met and married Mark Hales on June 14, 1951. They had three children together, Jim (Blake), Diane, and Layne. They later divorced.

Janet met the love of her life and married Richard Neal Scott. They were later sealed in the Manti UT Temple in May 1972. Janet and Neal were both avid horsemen and were active members of the Spanish Fork riding clubs. They had many adventures together, going to Hawaii, running cattle together, buying and running a successful livestock auction, active members of the Elks club, and their best and most important adventure was loving and raising three amazing children together.

Janet was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she held various callings and was a very talented pianist and organ player. She was often asked to share her talents in her callings and her music with many people!

Despite being a very busy wife and mother Janet worked at Zions Bank for many years, as the Teller Supervisor, where she made many lifelong friends. She also had a very green thumb and had a beautiful yard that hosted many weddings, family gatherings and other events.

Janet is survived by her children; Jim (Blake)and Ilene Hales, Diane (Brent) Dunstan, and Layne (Tresa) Scott, 11 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her brother Jerry (Joy) Hill, with 3 nephews and 2 nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband Neal Scott, her parents, Willis and Lucy Hill, and her sister Diane Hill.

Janet’s family would like to thank the team at Cascades at Orchard Park in Orem and the team at Ability Home Health and Hospice for their love and care and for doing all the many “little extras” that meant so much to the family.

I was so blessed to know your Mom and have her volunteer at Mountain View Hospital. We shared so many talks and fun memories. She was a doll and I love her. My deepest sympathy. I hope you will find peace in happy memories.

Oh my goodness we loved her. I still, to this day, wash the tops of cans off when ever I open one, because of her. She was amazing and always was good to me. We loved how she always spoke her mind and told you what was what, but always accepted and loved you. The world is not quite as bright without her in it.
