Jan Dixon Corless, our wonderful wife, loving mother and sister, amazing grandma, and friend to all, passed away peacefully at her home on the evening of January 10, 2023, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. She was born January 20, 1959 in Payson, Utah to Ray Kenneth and Mary Jane Money Dixon. She had a wonderful childhood, growing up on the ranch in Benjamin with her two sisters, JaneAnn and Karen. She attended schools in Benjamin and Spanish Fork, graduating from Spanish Fork High School in 1977.
She married her sweetheart, Michael Reuel Corless on February 19, 1982, and together they have three children: Jill, Jed, and Nickelle. They raised their children in the home they built on the hill, overlooking the ranch. Jan was a stay-at-home mom and loved being with her kids and involved with their school and livestock projects. As her children grew older, she worked at Mountain View Hospital as a unit secretary, Western Unlimited in Spanish Fork, and later at Smith Auto Company in the accounting department. She made many life-long friends throughout her working years. After the passing of her father in 1999, she became the full-time ranch manager of Ray K. Dixon Ranches.
Jan was very talented and creative. She was a meticulous quilter and seamstress. She enjoyed painting and drawing with and for her grandchildren. She was an amazing cook. She planned and hosted the best parties, which her family looked forward to all year long. Her other hobbies included riding horses and taking care of the cattle. She found her ultimate joy at rodeos and other sporting events where she could be heard cheering on her grandchildren. She also made many wonderful memories while traveling with her friends.
She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Even though she was a busy wife, mother, and grandmother, she could always find time for her friends and used her talents to help others. She was always thinking about what she could do for someone else.
The family would like to give a very heartfelt and special thanks to Dr. William Alward, Dr. Steven Call, Dr. Mary Beth Scholand, and Canyon Home Health & Hospice for the excellent care they provided.
Jan is survived by her husband, Michael R. Corless; and their children: Jill (Nick) Hanks of Benjamin, Utah, Jed (Jessie) Corless of Benjamin, Utah, and Nickelle (Justin) Squire of Sterling, Utah. She also is survived by her nine beloved grandchildren: Luke, Landon, and Trey Hanks; Hayes, Hank, and Hadley Corless; Ally and Sadie Squire, and Krew Zabriskie. She is additionally survived by her sisters, Karen (Joey) Bowler and JaneAnn (Scott) Holmes-Davis. Jan is preceded in death be her much-loved father and mother, Ray K. Dixon and Mary Jane Money Dixon.
Family and friends may gather at a viewing Sunday evening, January 15, 2023, from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah 84660. I loved going to the kids games and getting to visit with her, she was always so kind and so fun to talk to. So grateful and glad to have Nickelle as a daughter-in-law, she’s a very thoughtful and sweet person just like Jan. She will be so missed by many. The video is a great tribute and glad I got to see the many pictures, what a great lady.

January 16, 2023 at 3:26 pmI am so saddened to hear of Jan’s passing. Jan not only worked for me but was a friend. She always had a smile and was so nice to everyone. All of us at Western Unlimited loved the days she worked. Jan always brought a smile and humor with her not only at work but everywhere she went. She never would talk about how she was doing but how I was doing, wanting to know about my kids and Duane. When I would inquire about her kids and grandkids her whole face would light up. The last time I saw Jan was at the junior high rodeo finals last year and we had a great talk. I knew she wasn’t doing well then, but she was still smiling and laughing. Jan, of course, didn’t want to talk about herself but wanted to know how I was doing in Arizona.Jan was always so thoughtful of others. You touched so many people in your life here on earth, we are all better because you were in it. May she rest in peace.
