James Reimschiissel Livestream Broadcast

James (Jim) Willy Reimschiissel, 71, of Benjamin, Utah, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, after a long battle with dementia caused by FXTAS. He was born on April 6, 1954, in American Fork, Utah, to Vivian Green and Willy Reimschiissel.

James grew up in American Fork, where he met Judy Buhler and caught her eye by hitting a home run. After serving a two-year mission in Denmark for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he developed a deep love for the Danish language, people, and culture, he married Judy in the Salt Lake Temple on May 22, 1976. Together, they built a loving home in Benjamin and raised five children.

In the early years of marriage, James worked on his family’s dairy farm in Benjamin before becoming a rural carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He served in Cedar City, Farmington, and Santaquin, where he treasured the friendships made along his routes until retiring in 2019.

James had a lifelong love of learning and history—especially Church and family history. He devoted countless hours to name extraction and indexing, making significant contributions to genealogical preservation. A faithful member of the Church, he was known for his depth of scripture knowledge and service as a Gospel Doctrine teacher. He and Judy served a service mission together in the Spanish Fork West Stake from 2020 to 2021.

A gifted craftsman, James was skilled in blacksmithing, woodworking, and restoring antiques. He and Judy shared a special talent for finding beauty and potential in things others might overlook, working side by side on creative projects. He loved classical music—often playing it in his shop—and cherished singing hymns and folk songs with his family in Danish and German.

James was an avid reader, often found with a book, ready to read anytime, anywhere. His children and grandchildren will remember his quiet wisdom, sense of humor, and the way he always knew when to offer encouragement or comfort. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved his family deeply and lived a life of faith,
curiosity, and kindness.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy; children Rachael (Marc) Gibson, Jessie (Joel) Gardiner, Daniel (Tynelle) Reimschiissel, Aaron (Chelsea) Reimschiissel, and Kirsten (Jeremy) Fowler; 20 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his siblings Kelly, Jeff, Eric, and Lisa. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Marc and Rebecca; and nephew Kevin.

Funeral services will be held on November 1st, 2025 at 11:15 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3278 W 7300 S, Benjamin, Utah. Viewings will be held that morning 9:00–11:00 a.m. before the service. Interment will follow at Benjamin Cemetery. Services will be broadcast live through Walker Funeral Home.
