Jack Lawrence Mason, 57, of Elk Ridge, Utah passed away November 15, 2018. Jack was born August 5, 1961 in Arlington Heights, Illinois to Marshal (Mark) Krumweide and Eleanore Elizabeth Bartsch, and later adopted by William Albert Mason. He was raised in Arizona and graduated from Gilbert High School, Gilbert, Arizona in 1979.
He married ShaMayne Peck October 23, 1982 in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple. Nine children blessed the union.
Jack was passionate about his family, playing guitar, long distance running, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and conducted himself as a disciple of Jesus Christ. He was converted and baptized at 10 years of age in Lehi, Arizona, and worked to faithfully fulfill every calling. He served in the Argentina Buenos Aires South Mission 1980-1981 under President and Hermana Dahl.
Jack attended BYU, completing a Bachelor’s of Computer Science in 1989. He then attended Nova South Eastern University, Florida, where he received a Masters Degree in Computer Science, 2003, followed by a PHD in Computer Science in 2013.
Jack’s employment journey included: Layton Farms, Utah State Hospital computer services, Intel, Pema Technologies, Family Search, Novell, Nature Sunshine, Ancestory.com, and the MTC/BYU. He especially loved low level programming getting into the nuts and bolts of the computer. However, he saw people as his greatest business. He left a positive impact on all he came in contact with and his absence will be felt by many.
Jack is survived by his wife ShaMayne Mason, parents Bill and Ellie Mason, children Daniel Mason (Alana) of Salem, Utah, Seth Mason (Kylee) of Orem, Utah, AnnaJane Mason, Joshua Mason, Joel Mason, Abigail Mason, Caleb Mason, AlizaRose Mason, and Elijah Mason. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren, sister Lynn Pope of Oregon, brother Gerald (Jerry) Mason (Amy) of Elk Ridge, Utah, brothers-in-law Shaun Peck (Kerry) of Avon, Utah, Shaylin Peck (Karen) of Orem, Utah, Sharik Peck (Cheryl) of Richmond, Utah, Sheldon Peck (Angie) of Farmington, Utah, Sheridan Peck (Amber) of Providence, Utah, Shad Peck of California, Shiloh Peck (Kambria) of Smithfield, Utah, Sgt. Shalee Peck (Jill) of Richmond, Utah sisters-in-law Shenla Brown (Nate) of Smithfield, Utah, Shanda Call (Ashton) of Providence, Utah, and mother-in-law Roberta Peck of Providence, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law Ralph Peck, and nephew Brendan Peck.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Elk Ridge Stake Center, 185 Ridge View Drive, Elk Ridge, Utah. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 19, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at the Stake Center. A visitation will also be held prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Stake Center. Interment will be held at the Salem City Cemetery.
