Jack Devon Jensen was born on July 22, 1946 in Gunnison, Utah to Mildred and Richard Jensen. He was the youngest of six boys. He was raised on a dairy and turkey farm in the small town of Sterling, Utah. It was here he developed a strong work ethic! Cows had to be milked twice a day come rain or shine, and as Jack liked to say, “We were lucky to go to school and not have to stay home and work on the farm.” or “When I did go to school, I had to walk uphill through the snow both ways and you kids get to ride the bus!”
After attending Manti High School Jack served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Honolulu, Hawaii. He attended Snow College and graduated from Utah State University with a bachelor’s degree in dairy science and business. While attending Utah State he was set up on a blind date and met his sweetheart and eternal companion Susan. They later married in the Manti Temple.
Right out of college, in 1972, they moved to Logandale, Nevada where he worked in the dairy and agricultural business. He was also one of the first managers of the local Moapa Valley Credit Union. He later purchased and ran the Jensen Feed Store, opening two more stores. After ten years, he sold the business and started up Jensen Appraisal as well as Logandale Storage which he continued to manage through his life.
He was an avid gardener, loved fishing, hunting with his kids, and all things livestock. As a family, every winter was spent snow skiing and summer was spent boating on Lake Mead and Lake Powell. He enjoyed life. He loved his family, especially his grandkids, and The Gospel of Jesus Christ.
He was committed to his faith, his Savior and to serving others. He was a missionary in a variety of capacities from a ward level to serving two consecutive missions with his wife at Heber Valley Girls camp and the Kirkland Ohio historical church sites. They also served two summers volunteering during the Palmyra Pageant. He was always sensitive to the spirit, meeting the needs of others as he compassionately served all he came into contact with.
On July 17, 2024 Jack passed away after a courageous two-year battle with mesothelioma cancer. Jack is survived by his loving and devoted wife Susan, their children, Todd, David (Jennifer), Brittney (Chris), and Jason (Jessica). He has 15 beautiful grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. As the Jensen family we are grateful for the plan of happiness and the joy we feel knowing that we will be with Grandpa Jack again.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Benjamin Ward Chapel, 3278 West 7300 South, Benjamin (Spanish Fork) Utah.
