Ila Joy Rosenlof was born in the family home in Spanish Fork, Utah, on February 20, 1939, to Wayne Hilding and Zina Lucille Ellis Rosenlof, the youngest of five children.
Ila attended Central Elementary School, followed by Spanish Fork Jr. and Sr. High Schools, graduating from high school and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Seminary in 1957. Following a year of working at Barbizon to earn the money she needed, Ila took a year course in Practical Nursing at Central Utah Vocational School, graduating in September 1959.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse, Ila had the following positions: Hughes Memorial Hospital; in the private practice of Dr. Leonard H. Foote for 10 years; at Payson Hospital for about 5 years (as an excellent scrub nurse); next, a short stint working for Dr. John Mendenhall; then at the State Hospital in Provo; followed by over 20 years at Utah Valley Hospital, primarily in the Nursery and with mothers and babies.

Not only was Ila an excellent nurse, but she also served her fellow LPN’s through their LPN organization, both as a District President and as the Utah President. She planned and attended conventions, wrote regular newsletters, and worked on legislative matters.
As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ila served as the Junior Sunday School Coordinator, in the Primary as a teacher, and as an Inservice Leader (in the ward and later in the stake), in Young Women and in the temple (for five years). Those she served knew of her love for them.
Gardening, having a beautiful yard, working with her sister, Faye, to add to and fix up and to beautify their home; sewing and doing cross-stitch were other activities Ila enjoyed doing.
Ila was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Jay, Mary Lou, Blaine, and Faye (with whom she lived most of her life). She is survived by nieces: Kristene, Jana (Mikel), and Roberta (Jim) in California; and Marilyn and Karen (Thayne) in Idaho; by many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews, and cousins. Leonard and Loa Ellis, her cousins, have watched over and assisted her in her later years. Patience Bernards and Marielen Christensen have been regular visitors during Ila’s last few years.
On Saturday, August 20, 2022, a viewing will be held at Walker Funeral Home, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:55 a.m. with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
