In loving memory of Gregory Gordon Taylor, of Orem, Utah, who peacefully completed his earthly mission on December 25, 2025. Greg was born January 22, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, to Gordon and Karen Taylor. He married his eternal companion, Cindy Prestwich Taylor, on September 10, 1999, in Payson, Utah, and they were sealed for time and all eternity on September 15, 2001, in the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple.
Greg was born with a loving and accepting spirit and offered unconditional love to everyone he met. He had a gift for making people smile—often through quirky, irreverent comments delivered with warmth and good humor. Greg was always making friends and seemed to know everyone in Payson. Even when venturing beyond town, he would inevitably recognize someone—or be recognized—evidence of the many connections he built throughout his life.
Greg was a hard-working man from a young age. As a boy, he milked cows and delivered newspapers, later working at Allen’s Super Save, a steel plant, and eventually finishing his working career at Albertson’s Mill. At eighteen, he was involved in a motorcycle accident, followed by a lifetime of additional accidents, physical challenges, and illness. Despite these hardships, Greg maintained a positive attitude and a jovial spirit throughout his life and through the very end. He was quick to express love to his wife and sincere gratitude to the nurses and medical staff who cared for him, always making sure those around him knew they were appreciated and loved.
Greg was known for his strong handshake, often holding on just long enough to make you wonder if your hand might fall off. He had a shortened pinky finger from a workplace accident while cutting wood—an injury he rarely spoke of plainly, preferring instead to embellish the story with his signature humor. He loved cheeseburgers and was especially devoted to his preferred beverage: Dr Pepper mixed with Mountain Dew.
Above all, Greg deeply loved his family and carried sorrow for the absence of his sons in his life. He hoped that people would treat one another with love, kindness, and compassion, and he lived that hope in the way he showed up for others.
Greg is survived by his wife, Cindy Prestwich Taylor; his children: Michael (Marla) Summers, Paul (Owen) Summers, Jennifer (Kai) Cockett, Marie (Chad) Baadsgaard, Amy (Thomas) Petty, Eric (Marleis) Prestwich, Sterling (Jessica) Taylor, Tyson (Samantha) Taylor, and Colby (Fernanda) Taylor; and 24 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Karen Taylor, and his beloved granddaughter, Amelia Petty.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Geneva Heights 7th Ward Chapel located at 546 North 500 West in Orem, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Payson City Cemetery, 400 North 800 East, Payson, Utah.
