Gloria Jean Rytting Johnson March 1, 1944 - December 1, 2021

Gloria Jean-Rytting Johnson passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021, in Elk Ridge, Utah, surrounded  by her devoted family.

Gloria Jean-Rytting Johnson, age 77, passed away peacefully December 1, 2021, due to natural causes.   She was born March 1, 1944, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Leland and Ivy Rytting.  She married her friend and love of her life, Lewis Ross Johnson,  July 27, 1962, who preceded her in death January 16, 2000.  They were sealed for time and all eternity to each other October 9, 1969, in the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Gloria and Lewis were blessed with 6 children: Timothy (Carma) Johnson, Kristina (Todd) Phillips, David (Teresa) Johnson, Michelle (Chris) Endsley, Theresa (Andy) Hardison, Jeni (Trevor) Davis as well as 18 wonderful grandchildren, and 13 precious great-grandchildren.  She loved her family so much and loved spending time with them.

Gloria was a stay-at-home mom who was always there for her children.  She loved her grandkids and great-grandkids with all her heart. She loved to travel and babysit and spend as much time as possible with her family.

She also shared her love for food and other amazing baking treats.  She was a talented seamstress.  Gloria and Lew owned and operated a small drapery business in the basement of their home in West Jordan, Utah, for many years.  In 1982, they pulled up stakes and moved the family to Soldotna, Alaska, where Lewis got a job working for Union 76, until retiring.

In 1986, they started a new business where they owned and operated a twin-movie theater in Soldotna called the Orca Theaters.  In 1999, Lewis and Gloria sold the Theater in Alaska.  They began a new venture in Payson, Utah, and the new construction of the Stadium Cinemas.  They loved movies and traveling.  They looked forward to the annual movie-theater conventions in Las Vegas and New Jersey, and seeing all the movie stars and movies coming out for the year.

Gloria will always remain in our hearts forever. May she rest in peace in paradise.

A Graveside Funeral services for the immediate family will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 4, 2021.
