On November 14, 2023, Glenda Maxine Bowden joined her dear husband on their 73rd  wedding anniversary. She passed away peacefully at her nieces’ home, in Spanish Fork, Utah, surrounded by family and loved ones.

Glenda was born on January 19, 1935, in Duchesne, Utah, to Glen and Lupreal Hadden. She was the oldest of 4 girls that were raised by their grandparents: Edward and Alta Hadden.

Glenda married Harold Thomas Bowden on Nov. 14, 1950, in Myton, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles Temple. While Harold was serving in the military they lived in California. While there, on January 17,1953, their beautiful daughter, Debbra Sue Bowden, was born. They returned to Utah for a few years and then moved to Baldwin Park, CA. Debbie passed away in October of 1986.

Glenda worked about 40 years in the San Gabriel School District school lunch program. Most of those years she served as the Director of District Food Services.

During those years they also became very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings, including Ward Relief Society President. They served as temple workers. Harold was the bishop before they moved to Las Vegas. They organized a Monday Night Family Home Evening group which was held in their home each week.

In December 2003, they moved to Las Vegas to be near the Las Vegas Temple and family members. They loved to do genealogy and temple work. Also loved to travel and take vacations with family and friends. They loved their Family Home Evening group so much that they started it again in Las Vegas. She loved to read and do needlework in her spare time.

Harold passed away on September 11, 2015. After his passing, her health began to decline. The past two years have been difficult and so she decided to move to Spanish Fork to be closer to her family in Utah. She moved into Legacy House of Spanish Fork on September 5th, this year.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, husband, daughter, and sisters (Alta Burris, Ruby Hadden, and Jane Bird.) Plus, a special aunt and uncle, Sylvia Ivie and Irvin Hadden, that she was raised with.

Family has always been very important to Glenda, and she went the extra mile to let you know she loved you. She is survived by many nieces and nephews that love her so much.

Glenda is also survived by her best friend and companion, Bob, her 20lb cat. She said he’s mostly human and also “a Mormon boy” because he would stay on the arm of her chair and watch conference talks with her. She also taught him how to wink and drink from a bottle of water.

Her funeral will be held Saturday, November 18, at 2:00 pm. It will be at the LDS Church located at 275 South 1400 East, Spanish Fork, UT 84660. Viewing will be at 12:30 pm at the same chapel.

The graveside service will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Covina, CA. It will be most likely to take place after Thanksgiving. Please contact family for more information if needed.
