On Saturday, September 3, 2022, our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather, Glen Ford Thorpe, passed away at his home in Benjamin, Utah, surrounded by his family.
Glen was born October 7, 1953, in Payson, Utah, to Ford Edwin and Twyla Johns Thorpe. He frequently recounted his memories of growing up in Lander, Wyoming as well as tagging along with his Grandpa Johns on his farm in Palmyra and Lake Shore. He moved to Spanish Fork in his youth and graduated from Spanish Fork High School. He attended Snow College.
He married Tonie Lee Johnson in Spanish Fork on May 24, 1974. They were later sealed in the Provo Temple for time and eternity. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Glen worked at Geneva Steel for 29 and a half years. When Geneva shut down, he returned to school and earned his Associate of Applied Science degree from Utah Valley University in 2004. Glen also worked for the Nebo School District for many years and was a source of inspiration for many of the students that crossed his path.
Glen treasured his time in the outdoors and could often be found fishing at Strawberry, goose hunting in the west fields in Spanish Fork or Delta, or practicing his photography. He loved being in the mountains camping or taking long Sunday afternoon drives. He also enjoyed being a booster of 4-H and FFA and often purchased animals at auction.
Glen will be remembered as a friend to everyone. He loved Spanish Fork and sharing his memories with his family. He adored his grandchildren and always cherished their accomplishments as if they were his own.
Glen is survived by his wife Tonie and four children: Paul (Natalie) Thorpe, Denise (Erik) Fogleman, Weldon (Amanda) Thorpe, and Annalee (Wes) Talbot. He is also survived by his seventeen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and sister, Dorann Ficklin. He was preceded in death by his parents, older brother, Wayne J Thorpe and brother-in-law, Royce C Ficklin.
A viewing will be held from 9 to 10:30 am on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3238 West 7300 South, Benjamin, Utah. Funeral services will follow at 11 am. Interment will be at the Spanish Fork Cemetery.

September 10, 2022 at 10:40 pmTonie and family,
Our most sincere condolences. I first met Glen when we both worked at Little Giant. Glen was a very good friend and mentor to me over the years. I will miss our hunting trips and talks about life. God bless you all during this time. I am grateful for the Plan of Salvation and for our Savior’s Atonement. I am grateful that Glen does not have to suffer illness anymore in mortality.
