Glade Knuteson, age 72, passed away on October 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Glade was born on October 5, 1953, and was raised in Spanish Fork by his dedicated grandparents, George and Thelma Knuteson. After graduating from Payson High School in 1972, Glade married his high school sweetheart Kathy Brown. They were married for 53 wonderful years and were blessed with two children.
Glade retired in 2019 with over 40 years in the welding industry. The final 22 years of Glade’s career were spent working as a welding inspector for Intermountain Lift in Springville, Utah. He valued the friendships he made throughout his career. His work community continued to wrap their arms around Glade long after he retired, calling him to the shop for help on ongoing projects, and leaning on his many years of experience.
Glade’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Glade loved spending summers at Lake Powell. Days were filled with waterskiing adventures, launching water balloons across the water, and lively games of watermelon ball that brought joy and laughter to everyone. In his early years, some of the most cherished memories were made around the campfire at hunting camp, where stories flowed as freely as laughter. Horseshoe tournaments were a highlight, with Glade always eager to show off his knack for capturing a ringer. His skill and playful spirit made every game memorable. Glade also loved gathering around the table for poker and card games, surrounded by those he loved most, where friendly competition and laughs created long-lasting memories. Glade was also a true BBQ master, and his culinary skills were requested often at gatherings with family and friends. These moments of togetherness, fun and great food reflect the love and warmth Glade shared with those closest to him.
Glade was deeply passionate about music, enjoying many genres with a particular love for classic rock and vinyl records. Whether he was at work or relaxing, there was always music playing nearby. He shared his excellent musical taste with both his children and grandchildren…and anyone else who would listen.
Glade will always be remembered for his extraordinary generosity and the immense heart he shared with everyone around him. He touched the lives of those big and small, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege to know him. Glade’s laugh was infectious, and his easygoing attitude made every moment brighter. His love was truly unconditional- he gave it freely, never holding back, and in doing so, he made a mark that will remain with us forever.
Glade is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathy, their children Jared (Susie) Knuteson, CoriAnn (Nate) Lloyd, his grandchildren: Josie Knuteson, Shae (Chandler) Beal, Jarett Knuteson, Denver Lloyd, Brenden (Hannah) Lloyd, and Maddox Lloyd. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Glade will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Walker Funeral home located at 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah 84651. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Payson City Cemetery located at 400 North 800 East in Payson, Utah. A family gathering will be held prior to the graveside service at Walker Mortuary from 9:30-10:30 am.
