George Alan Cox, 85 passed away on January 24, 2026, at home in St. George, Utah.
He was born August 14, 1940, in Springville, Utah to Wilford Bill and Muriel (Jensen) Cox.
George graduated from Springville High School, class of 1958. Following graduation, he served in the US Army and was stationed in Munich, Germany. While home on leave, he married his sweetheart, Grace Joyce Peterson of Spanish Fork, Utah. George returned to service in Germany and Joyce joined him six months later. On August 16, 2008, they were sealed for eternity in the Manti temple. They celebrated 67 years of marriage in December.
George became a devout member of the LDS church later in his life and was grateful for the many friends and relationships he made as a member of the church.
George loved fishing, hunting, and camping with friends and family. He was a very generous man who loved to provide support and help for anyone in need.
George worked for 34 years for Utah Power and Light Company and Rocky Mountain Power and held numerous positions in the company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Jack, his sister-in- law Patricia Cox, sister Carol Ann (Cox) Farnsworth, brother-in-law Verl Farnsworth, brother Edward J (Ted) Cox, and grandchildren Eric Boyd Pilling and Cassie Kate Gale.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Joyce Cox, his son Scott Alan Cox and his wife Kris (Kokal) Cox, of Mapleton, his daughter Terri Lyn Pilling of Price, and grandchildren Stephanie (Pilling) Sharp along with her husband Tony Sharp, and Madison (Cox) Swanson along with her husband Michael Swanson, Sister-in-law Gloria Cox, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the CNS Hospice and the Middleton Ward in St. George for the love and care they gave George and their family.
A visitation will be held in George’s honor at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Walker Funeral Home located at 187 South Main St., Spanish Fork, Utah. A funeral service will be held immediately after at 2:30 p.m. and interment will be at Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
