Gayle Lyn Long, 58, loving mother and grandmother, passed away the morning of July 31st, 2024, in Payson Utah surrounded by those she loved in life. Gayle was born to K. David Roberts and Nadene Ottosen Roberts in Roosevelt Utah on September 25, 1965. She grew up in Tabiona, Utah, along with her nine siblings: Hal Roberts (Kathryn), Anne Halsey (Craig), Stephen Roberts (Leisa), Morgan Roberts (Robyn), Karen Finley (James), Julie Gividen (Norman), Monica Bramall (Frank), Merrie Walker, and Dean Roberts (Hilary). She graduated from Tabiona High School in the class of 1984.
She attended Rick’s college in Rexburg, Idaho and Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Gayle, Courtney, Erin, and Blaine met and became a family with Alan Long during the autumn of 1997 in the Mount Timpanogos Temple. Alan and Gayle welcomed two more children, for a total of five and raised their family in Payson Utah. Their children are Courtney Webb (Nathan), Erin McMurray, Blaine McMurray (Taylor), Danika Calvin (Michael), and Chance Long. Gayle was a full-time mom. Her life revolved around loving and caring for her children and later, her grandchildren; Krew and Grey Hamby, Lincoln, Bennett, Lucy, and Clara Webb, with two more on the way, Olivia Calvin and baby Webb. Nothing brought her more joy than being with the ones she loved.
When she wasn’t busy with one of her six grandchildren, she enjoyed caring for many of God’s creatures. She held a special place in her heart for horses and taught her descendants how to ride. When she wasn’t riding, she loved the outdoors and was an avid camper and hiker. Nothing made her happier than enjoying God’s Earth. She kept many dogs throughout her lifetime and enjoyed teaching her grandchildren how to care for animals.
She is dearly missed by her family.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 902 West 400 North in Payson, Utah. Visitation will be prior from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Benjamin Cemetery, 8400 South 3200 West, Benjamin, Utah.

August 2, 2024 at 12:03 amI am so sorry to hear of Gayle’s passing. For many years I’ve wished that I could meet and visit with her. Life has a way of leading us in different directions.
In high school in Tabiona, she was a very dear friend and was a wonderful example of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and our Saviors teachings. I joined the church at 17 and Gayle along with here sister Karen were examples to me. Both were a great help in my serving a mission.
Prayers and good thoughts for Gayle’s family.
I am very sure she will be missed by many special people in her life. Love and Best wishes.
