Gayle Goble Ord, 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family. She was born May 27, 1933, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Alice Evelyn (Sadler) Goble and Kenneth Goble. Her life was defined by devotion to family, a brilliant and inquisitive mind, and a deep well of love that she shared freely with all who knew her.
Gayle married Richard Neil Ord in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on March 13, 1953, and together they built a life centered on faith service, and unwavering commitment. As the mother of 9 children, she found her greatest joy in her family and created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and belonging.
Known for her radiant smile, kindness, grace, patience, and unforgettable laugh, Gayle brought joy wherever she went. She had a lifelong passion for reading history, and family heritage, dedicating countless hours to genealogical research. Her work resulted in a family history book and a published article in The Ensign magazine, reflecting her deep commitment to preserving the stories of her ancestors.
Gayle exemplified perseverance and a love of learning, nearly completing a bachelor’s degree later in life. A gifted pianist, she filled her home with music that brought peace and connection to those around her. She worked as a secretary in her early years and later served as a teacher’s assistant in Magna.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Gayle lived her faith through service, compassion, and steadfast testimony. Gayle and Neil served a church service mission at the Church History museum. She will be remembered as creative, intelligent, unselfish, and tenacious-a woman of remarkable strength and beauty.
Gayle is survived by her brother, William Kent (Kimera) Goble, children Ann (Jim) Norris, Karen (Wayne) Beckstead, Marian (Steve) Johnson, Kathy (David) Buckmiller, Richard (Suzanne) Ord, Carol (Tim) Hildebrand, Allyn (Tracey) Ord, and Erin Ripplinger. She was preceded in death by her husband Neil and her son David. Gayle leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through her nine children, 30 grandchildren, 90 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and her light will remain in the hearts of her family forever.
A visitation will be held in Gayle’s honor on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 9:15 – 9:45 a.m. at Walker Funeral Home located at 187 South Main St., Spanish Fork, Utah. Her funeral service will immediately follow at the same location, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Vine Bluff cemetery in Nephi, Utah.
