It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gary William Jarvis, on March 5, 2025, after a lingering illness and years of disabilities. Gary was born August 14, 1955, in Provo, Utah, to Thomas Jarvis and LaDean Hansen. His beloved mother, LaDean, raised the entire family on her own. He was a devoted son, brother, father and grandfather. Gary and Scott took care of their mother until the end of her life. Gary took particular care of his brother, Scott, for many years.
Gary lived his entire life in Spanish Fork, Utah. He graduated from Spanish Fork High School, in 1973. He excelled in sports, winning trophies in five different sports. He took third place in a city-wide punt, pass and kick competition for 12-year-olds. He earned the Eagle Scout award at the age of 12, followed by several palms.
Gary worked for the Denver Rio Grande Western and Union Pacific Railroads, for 22 years, where he worked on the main line from Pueblo, Colorado to Ogden, Utah. During the floods of 1983, he worked on the Thistle tracks, getting the last train (the California Zepher) through before the landslide closed the area. He had a great work ethic, always having a job and helping others in his family. He was a landlord for over 36 years.
He loved to travel and with his family visited many places throughout the United States. He especially enjoyed deep sea fishing in Mexico.
Gary was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Brent and Scott. He is survived by a son, Daniel, grandson Carter Gary (Moab), and a half sister, Valene Barney (Spanish Fork).
Graveside services will be held at the Spanish Fork cemetery on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.
Gary will be missed by family, friendsĀ and neighbors.

March 6, 2025 at 11:29 pmI am sad to hear of Garys passing. I took care of his darling mom and her BOYS were the apple of her eye. Scott and Gary were forever constant in LaDenes care needs. I was always welcomed in their home and treated with great respect. God Bless your family at this time. Bonnie Ballard RN
