In Loving Memory of Gary Maurice Farr
September 23, 1937 – August 3, 2025
Our beloved father, Gary Maurice Farr, age 87, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, at his home in Mona, Utah.
Dad was born on September 23, 1937, in Tucson, Arizona, to Maurice Fredrick Farr and Mavis Clawson. He spent his early years in Arizona and Utah, calling places like Eloy, Casa Grande, Provo, Springville, Mapleton, and Mona home. He graduated from Santa Cruz Valley Union High School in Eloy, Arizona, and went on to attend Utah Technical College and Brigham Young University.
On October 23, 1959, he married the love of his life, Dixie Marie Brewer. Their marriage was later solemnized and sealed for time and eternity in the temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on September 27, 1977. Together, they created a strong, loving family and a life full of adventure, service, and dedication.
A man of exceptional work ethic and skill, Dad built a career in various trades. He worked as a machinist and truck driver, with employers including Tote Goat, General Refractories, Hill Air Force Base, Sperry Corporation, and Geneva Steel. His passion for farming and ranching, which began in his youth, remained a central part of his life.
Dad was a man of many talents and interests. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, and exploring the outdoors on motorcycles, snowmobiles, and 4-wheelers. A true craftsman, he enjoyed designing and building personal projects, machining custom parts, welding, and fixing just about anything. He shared these skills—and his values—with his five
sons and many others during his years as a devoted Boy Scout Master, leaving a lasting legacy of mentorship and example.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he lived a life of service, integrity, and devotion to his family and community.
He is survived by his children:
● Mitchell Gary Farr of Nephi, Utah
● Todd Allen Farr (Tuesdee) of Overgaard, Arizona
● Mark Shaun Farr (Heidi-Jo) of Mona, Utah
● Chad Richard Farr of Nephi, Utah
● Ryan David Farr of Santaquin, Utah
Dad is also lovingly remembered by 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and his siblings: Don Kirk Farr, Lamont Clawson Farr, and Tamra Farr Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Dixie; his brother, Doug Fredrick Farr; and his daughter-in-law, Stephanie Kartchner Farr, wife of Mitch.
Dad will be remembered for his contagious laugh, inventive mind, love of the outdoors ,and deep devotion to his family. His legacy of strength, compassion, and resilience lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

August 5, 2025 at 10:54 pmI’m pretty sure he designed the part where we have to prove we are not robots by picking the right photos with cars in them. He figures if you really mean it you will keep trying.

August 8, 2025 at 2:23 amI will never forget Gary’s laugh. He was happy all the time. I remember many times over the years Gary was out camping and hunting with his sons. He let me tag along and treated me as one of his sons during my high school years. I remember one time we were camped up on Skyline Drive. Gary had to get his Satellite hooked up so he could watch a BYU football game. He then told me to take his brand new four wheeler out for a spin. I will always remember Gary as a great dad and friend to all those around him. He was a good example to his boys and those around him. I will miss seeing him and hearing his infectious laugh.
