Gary Leo Hubbard December 6, 1945 - August 23, 2021

Gary was born December 6, 1945 in Provo Utah to Robert Leo Hubbard and Dorathy Valene Calder Hubbard. On Monday, August 23, 2021, we lost him in a tragic semi-truck accident.
Gary was the third of five children. He was raised in Orem Utah, and grew up helping on the family fruit farm. Gary loved helping his uncles haul loads of fruit to Duchesne County towns; this may be where his love of driving truck began.
Gary met his wife, Pam,  at her father’s drive inn, the “A.C.”, when she wrote her phone number on his cast. They have been inseparable in the 57 years ever since. They were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Utah Temple on August 20, 1964. They were blessed with five children, losing one at birth; and son; Shane; recently on March 30, 2021.
In 1970, Gary started racing stock cars at the Turpin dirt track in Springville, Utah, which later became Suntana Raceway. He raced the Nascar circuit for eight years ….. lovin’ every minute of it. His brothers: Bruce, Todd, and Val were his pit crew. They made such an amazing team, winning many races. Gary was the track rival. He had many race cars of different models; most of them  Chevs ….. Gary being a Chevrolet man. Racing was always a family sport, spending late Friday nights getting ready for the races on Saturdays. When dad stopped racing, we didn’t know what to do on Saturdays. He raced for a total of 25 years! The passion of racing never left him. He never missed a Nascar race; that’s what was always on TV at grandpa’s house!
Gary might have been gruff on the outside, but he was the most caring man we knew. If someone needed help, he was always there. He enjoyed buying random people their meals whether it was the missionaries or little old ladies, because he was so kind to everyone! He would give anyone a chance to learn what he knew, if they were willing to learn. He might have been stubborn at times, but he was always honest.
Gary worked at Pac States for 15 years, until 1984, when he started Hubbard Trucking. Even being 75 years old, he still worked harder than most people, up until the day he returned home to his best friend, son Shane.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Todd; sister-in-law, Brenda; son Shane; and a great-granddaughter, Aizelyn.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Hubbard; sister, Irene Gryllakis; brother, Bruce and wife, Pat Hubbard; brother, Val and wife, Michelle Hubbard; his children: Joy (Greg) Pyne, Laura (Troy) Anderson, Nikki Hubbard, and Travis (Talene) Hubbard; along with 29 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Great guy. So was Shane. They taught me and my brother Stanton a lot. Gave me my first job and jump started Stantons career as a mechanic. Also Gary was one of my grandpa’s best friends for years and years. Pam was always so nice and cool. Her and Shane would provide a buffer for us when Gary would get mad at us haha. This is tragic and heartbreaking. Our hearts go out to the family
