Gary Adamson Tuckett passed away with his family by his side, on August 27, 2021, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Gary was born September 8, 1955, in Spanish Fork, Utah, to Lawrence and Marie Tuckett. As a child, he loved playing sports, including basketball, football and baseball. He attended and graduated from Spanish Fork High School where he met his sweetheart, Karen Larsen. They were married June 25, 1976. Shortly after marriage, he moved to Payson, Utah, where they had two daughters, Melissa and Stacy.
Gary was an amazing stone mason and was known for his creative masterpieces. He worked with his brother, George, for many years and then started his own masonry business when his brother retired. He worked on many national monuments, churches, city buildings and homes throughout his career.
Gary served his community as a President of the Payson Jaycees. He donated his masonry talent doing stonework on the historical Peteetneet School and also on the Huish theater in Payson, Utah.
Gary loved spending time hunting, fishing, and camping in the great outdoors with his family and friends. He was an avid Utah Jazz fan and rarely missed a game. He had a great love for music. He taught himself how to play the guitar and loved to sing to his family. We could often find him jamming out in his man-cave to the Beatles, Eagles, or any other 70’s rock band.
Gary had a great love for his seven grandchildren. He passed along his personal legacy of hunting, fishing, sports, love for the Jazz, and even the Beatles to all of them. He was very supportive of his grandchildren by attending all of their sporting and dance events. He had a unique way of making them each feel like they were his very favorite.
Gary is survived by his wife, Karen; his daughters, Melissa (Shelby) Drake and Stacy (Ryan) Haskell; his grandchildren: Nicole, Madison, Alydia, Aiden, Alli, Maddox, and Lyla. He is also survived by his siblings: Marion Astle, George (Dorian) Tuckett, Sherry (Brian) Tuckett-Nordby, and his twin brother, Larry; mother-in-law, Lois Haney; siblings in-law: Susan (Neil) Taylor, Warren (Cindy) Larsen, Janette (Doug) Painter, Sherri Larsen, Bob Blankenship; and many nieces and nephews.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Ruth Blankenship; father-in-law, Richard Larsen; step-father-in-law, George Haney; brothers-in-law, Ron Astle and Randy Romero; niece, Heather Houtz; and nephew, Jacob Larsen.
We would like to thank his home health and hospice caretakers.
A short visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, from 10:30-11:30 am at Walker Funeral Home. 587 South 100 West, Payson, UT. Graveside services and interment will be at 12:00 pm at Spanish Fork City Cemetery, 420 South 400 East, Spanish Fork, Utah 84660
