Gage Norman Long Gage Norman Long passed away on July 17th 2026, in Wayne County, Utah, at the age of 12. He was born February 26, 2014, in Payson, Utah, to Spencer and Katrina Long of Mona, Utah.
Gage was raised to always search for the good, work hard, and find joy and strength in everything he did. He had the most contagious laugh and the biggest smile you would have ever seen. Gage was never nervous to talk with others, make them laugh, sell them popsicles during the summer months, and bargain with neighbors at yard sales for things he felt he just had to have.
Gage was sealed to his family for time and all eternity in the Payson Utah Temple on September 12, 2020. Gage was excited to receive the Aaronic Priesthood and enjoyed learning to serve with the other young men in his Deacons quorum. His outgoing nature and happy countenance always brightened others’ lives. He looked forward to learning more about his Aaronic Priesthood duties and serving the Lord by being a true friend to all who knew him.
Gage was in 7th grade at Juab Junior High in Nephi, Utah. He naturally excelled in all of his classes and truly had a love for learning. His genuine curiosity led to regularly challenging adults to trivia competitions on a plethora of topics. He always won.
Gage loved trying new, fun, and exciting ideas. Whether it was turning the calf sled into a boat with a ton of pool noodles or eating all kinds of new foods, Gage was always up for a bright idea and a fun adventure. Gage’s hobbies include, but are not limited to: hockey, golfing, rock climbing, boxing, lacrosse, camping, and talking to you about his interests or telling you stories for hours. Gage always had something important he wanted to tell you.
Gage is survived by his sister, Lydia Vernon; his grandparents, Devan and Wendi Long and Lance and Susan Gubler. He was tragically joined in death with his parents, Katrina and Spencer Long, and his brothers Reid Vernon and Thayne Long.
The funeral service for the Long/Vernon family will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the UCCU Center located at 800 West University Parkway in Orem, Utah.

July 24, 2026 at 6:31 amGage will be remembered fondly as part of our JJHS family, he reminded me of the joy of teaching and learning. He was a bright light in our science class- always asking the best questions and having incredible insight. He connected the topics we were learning to the real world and was a great teacher and leader. He was mischievous in the very best of ways and could always make us smile! He never made excuses, he always wanted to be in class and learning- even when he wasn’t feeling his best. I was blessed to get to spend the last year with Gage, he will forever be in my heart.
