Francis B Milner, a native of Spanish Fork, passed away at his home at Legacy House in Spanish Fork on January 14, 2019.
Francis “Spot” Milner was preceded in passing by his wife, Ruth J. Milner, his parents, George and Mary Milner, two brothers, Blair G. and Roy Milner, as well as his little sister, Colleen Chappel.
He has two children, Kay Frances Benson and Brent J. Milner, who both live in California. Kay had three boys, three grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Spot’s surviving sisters, Marylou Hutchins, Shirley Stanford, Geraldine Terry and Phyllis Petersen, all still live around the Spanish Fork area with their families.
Spot left high school to follow his brother into World War II, fighting in the Pacific on the USS Haggard until his discharge on 10-23-45, when he came home to marry his high school sweetheart, Ruth Johnson. Both their children were born in Utah but they moved early on to California for work. Spot worked for Bud Antle for nearly 35 years, many times working 5-6 days a week, and at least 16 hours a day as produce never waited for a day off.
He was a loving and devoted husband to Ruth and spent so much of his time with his children, barbequing with his brothers and their families as their most cherished “hobby” besides watching Brent at football. His later years were spent with his wife building their dream home in Arnold, California, that he so loved.
His life was not easy but he always managed a glimmer of a sweet smile that lit up the room and gathered those who knew him close. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah. Family and friends may visit on Saturday, from 12:45-1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The American Heart Association, Research Department or to The Alzheimer’s Association, Research Department.
