Floyd Willard Crump died in hospice care, peacefully, on September 22, 2020, in South Jordan, Utah, at the age of 92.
Floyd is survived by his children: Kirby Crump of West Jordan, Utah, Chet and (Terri) Crump of South Jordan, Utah, and Flint and (Amy) Crump of Gilbert, Arizona. He has two grandchildren, one great-grandchild and 11 step-grandchildren with 10 great-step-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Juanda Jean McKee of Ventnor, Ontario, Canada; his mother, Maggie Mae Williams; his father, Willard Andrew Crump; his sister, Carol Crump Red Barrett; his brother, Larry Williams Crump, who were all of Spanish Fork, Utah.
Floyd Willard Crump was born on May 24, 1928, in Spanish Fork, Utah, to Bill and Maggie Crump. Floyd graduated from the University of Utah in 1959, with a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering. After moving to Brigham City, Utah, Floyd began working for Thiokol as a rocket engineer. He then advanced to Ireco Chemicals engineering explosive manufacturing plants with assignments to countries all over the world, until safely retiring in the mid-1990’s.
Over six years, the couple welcomed three boys into their home and Floyd set about teaching them to follow their dreams and hearts. His children remember him as a kind, even keel kind of guy. Yet, at times, he was a driven father who encouraged them to pursue their goals with focus.
Floyd was accomplished at bronc riding and calf roping in his youth. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Holland. Then, he served our country, during the Korean War, in Army Military Intelligence at Fort Bragg. His greatest passion was multi-day motorcycle trips, no matter how hot the weather (like Death Valley hot!). In his retired years, Floyd enjoyed learning computer science and then voluntarily sharing his new knowledge, teaching computer classes at the Senior Center.
Two viewings will be held at the Walker Funeral Home in Spanish Fork, Utah, starting on Friday night September 25, 2020, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.; and, Saturday morning, September 26, 2020, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Graveside service will then be held, with Military Honors, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, in the Spanish Fork, Utah, City Cemetery.

November 29, 2020 at 4:02 pmSorry I missed this, and my condolences go out to Floyds family. I worked around the world with Floyd and enjoyed seeing him stop by my shop (AAMCOR) at least once a year. Truly a gentleman and a scholar. I learned many things from Floyd and enjoyed his knowledge in the explosives industry. Floyd even drove truck for me after he was 75 years young and was someone I could trust to get the job done! He will surely be missed.

December 16, 2020 at 12:15 amFloyd was such an important part of my family’s life. Mr. Crump and my dad Jean-Guy became close friends and got along famously back when they both worked at Ireco in the late 60s. Floyd was the sweetest man and we kind of adopted him while he was in our area and away from his family in Utah… I feel so priviled that I was able to chat with him on the phone back in July. Priceless! Bon voyage, Floyd!
