Ervin Leonard Denna was born May 4, 1931 to Gus and Pearl Denna and returned to his heavenly home on December 21, 2025, following a short illness. He was happy to be able to be in his home surrounded by those he loves and that love him.
Raised as one of nine children during the depression, he had to learn early in life to live lean, work hard and contribute to their home. In this robust family Ervin stood out for his honesty and kind nature, traits that he exemplified all of his life.
His service in the United States Navy during the Korean War began lifelong friendships. He was a loyal friend and gathered many in his 94 years.
Ervin was honest. His word truly was his bond. He was a hard worker from his youth on. Employed for many years in the lumber business he later owned and operated his own successful carpet cleaning business.
Introduced to The Church of Jesus Christ by his sister, Wilma, he wholehearted embraced it. His faith in his savior was foundational to everything else.
Second only to his faith in Christ was his love for his wife, Mary, who survives him. The two of them built a family who now honor them, as Nephi did, as “goodly parents.” Ervin and Mary taught and loved birth, covenant and foster children, as well as 32 grandchildren, 68 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Eric and Lyn Denna, Maureen and Salvador (deceased) Rodriguez, Wade and Becky Denna, Karrie Eaquinto, Paul and Joylyn Denna, and Shane and Gigi Denna are especially blessed to call Ervin their father.
Ervin and Mary loved serving as missionaries in Independence, Missouri. Ervin held many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but none did he enjoy more than being a home teacher and minister. He was first and foremost a disciple of Jesus Christ.
