On January 14, 2024, Erma Mae Olson Measom passed away peacefully at the age of 82, while at Utah Valley Hospital, surrounded by her family. Born September 23, 1941, in Payson, Utah to Martin Clarence Olson and Louisa Brace Olson, she was the eighth of nine children.
Growing up on a farm in Genola was hard work so when the family moved to Payson it was there that Erma blossomed. At the age of 17, through mutual friends, Erma met Robert J Measom. They were married on September 10, 1959, for time and all eternity in the Manti Temple. From that union came three beautiful children.
She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Erma had a passionate love for music and her beautiful alto voice led her to become a member of multiple choirs, quartets, and singing groups. She made many great friendships throughout the years with her vocal and musical talents.
On November 29, 1973, Erma joined The United States Army, eventually earning the rank of Master Sargeant, E8. After serving 27 years for our country, she retired and was able to fully enjoy her family, whom she fiercely loved and was completely devoted to.
Erma was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: Wanda, Shirley, Darwin, Leona, Lyle, Blaine, and Jean.
Erma is survived by her husband Robert J Measom, sister Lynette Gardner, three children, Rob (Stacey) Measom, Kris (Chad) Richardson, and Kurt (Stephanie) Measom, grandchildren: Carlee, Lyle, McKell, Bryce, Kortney, Kade, Kesha, Samantha, great grandchildren: Kerry, Brookson, Ainsley, Ruby, Baker, Lilly, Royce, Oliver, Glendon and Harrison.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 274 South Main Street in Payson, Utah. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment with military honors will be in Payson City Cemetery, 400 North 800 East, Payson, Utah.
