Eric Manon Daley passed away on August 23, 2025 at age 61, surrounded by his loving family. His last weeks were spent in the Utah Valley Regional Hospital Intensive Care Unit in Provo, UT, battling multiple compounding health issues that led to respiratory failure.
Eric was born in Murray, UT on December 17, 1963 to Douglas Glen Daley and Gwenda Hathaway. His childhood years were spent on the move, living in Utah, Montana, California, Colorado, Arizona, Washington, and Oregon. He graduated from Mountain View High School in Bend, OR in 1982. As a young boy, he learned the value and satisfaction of hard work. Third of 13 children, he loved his mother and helping his parents in all ways that he could. This included moving irrigation pipe, driving tractors (his first one at age 8!), and caring for his younger siblings. Eric spoke fondly of his childhood, even though he walked to school uphill both ways in the snow. He loved spending time with his brothers wrestling, playing sports (especially basketball), and pranking his siblings and mother. He was the peacemaker of his family and fiercely loyal to his siblings. His brothers all looked up to him.
After serving a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Oklahoma Tulsa Mission, he moved to southern California. At a Young Single Adults dance in April of 1987, he grabbed the prettiest girl he saw to dance with so he wouldn’t get caught without a tie. Six weeks after meeting they were engaged. One month later, Eric married the love of his life, Kimberly Lyn Baldwin, for time and all eternity on July 23, 1987 in the Los Angeles temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Shortly after marriage, they moved to Alaska to help his father log. They welcomed their first daughter into the world while living there, and though he wasn’t able to be at the birth, he learned the news from his mother over the HAM radio.
Eric and his family lived in numerous states including Alaska, California, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Arizona, and Idaho. He graduated from Brigham Young University with his Bachelor’s degree in December 1996 in business management while raising his five young girls, working full-time, building his family home, and serving in multiple church callings. After graduation, they moved to College Station, TX where he earned his Masters of Business Administration from Texas A&M in the year 2000, and welcomed their last two children (twins!) into their family. Eric loved learning and was continuously expanding his knowledge. He was an entrepreneur, owning multiple businesses throughout his life, coming up with ideas of new ones to start, and always looking to get the next one up and running. He also did consulting for companies and ran business operations.
Eric loved spending time with his family, whether that was going to the movies, watching live theater, going to restaurants, playing games, telling Chuck Norris jokes, or traveling and going on road trips. He also enjoyed studying health, specifically in terms of nutrition and exercise.
Throughout his adult life, Eric suffered from a debilitating disease of unknown origin that eventually led to his complete immobility. Despite everything, he kept a positive outlook on life and always looked for the best in every situation. He was a man very strong in spirit, a prime example of love, strength, perseverance, and faith. One of his strongest traits was his adaptability, which allowed him to handle any situation or difficulty life threw at him with courage and optimism. Eric showed everyone around him what it means to conquer your fears and lean into your strengths. He inspired not only his children, but everyone around him. He was a firm believer in the strength and power of the mind, and the importance of hard work. Known for his extremely quick wit, Eric loved laughing and cracking jokes, keeping all his family on their toes. He had the unique ability to make everyone he interacted with feel seen, heard, and loved. His faith in and love for Christ and His gospel was unwavering, and he boldly lived his beliefs. He wants us all to remember to doubt your fears, not your faith. To stay close to and take care of family. To follow the prophet. The best thing he learned was to pray every day and to read scriptures. His motto in life was ALWAYS FORWARD, which he revised to GROW FORWARD at the end of his life. He was an amazing and beloved husband, son, brother, dad, pops, grandpa, papa, and grampy, and was loved beyond measure.
Welp, happy birthday!
Eric is survived by his spouse Kim Daley, his children Tesha, Melisa, Erica, Tamela, Rebecca, Jacob, and Hannah, his eighteen grandchildren, his parents Doug and Gwenda, and his twelve siblings Doug, Jeff, Marty, Bruce, Peter, Roger, Neal, Mathew, Daniel, Devlin, Theresa, and Samantha.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 30th, 2025 at the Spanish Oaks Ward Chapel at 928 Del Monte Rd, Spanish Fork, UT 84660 at 10:00AM. No viewing will be held.
