Eric Ammon Cheney October 9, 2003 - September 22, 2023

Our beloved son and brother, Eric Ammon Cheney, passed away on September 22, 2023 in an accidental explosion at the family home.

Eric is remembered by his parents, John and Julie Cheney; brothers Brigham, Jason, Garrett, and Adam; and his sister, Anna, as well as his grandparents Arthello Clair Cheney and Judy Somerville Cheney, Wayne Jones Sorensen and Francine Butler Sorensen.  He will be joining his grandma, Bonnie Gleed Cheney, in the love of our Lord and our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Eric was born October 9, 2003. He was engaged in countless sports, activities and adventures; and in even more friendships and relationships. He was always an open-hearted and giving child of God. Eric enjoyed working and building in the construction industry. He passed doing exactly the things he loved … working on hobbies and being with the family.

Eric always left an impression, wherever he would go. We have some permanent reminders of him in our backyard, when it was his turn to light some fireworks. Eric decided at his young age to turn the weird firework another direction. After lighting our fence and some of our natural landscape on fire, we all ran to stomp out the fires set in multiple parts of the yard. We laughed and laughed afterwards. We never wanted to fix the slightly melted fence panel because we wanted to keep that memory alive. Now it’s priceless to us. The Ken Sorensen family loves and misses you dearly Eric! And we will think of you every time we see fireworks in the sky!

Eric is a powerful personality who did everything with intensity and passion. I was grateful to have him play for our Volleyball club for three years with enthusiasm and grit. He wanted every set to come to him, but would also celebrate others’ good plays on the court. He had a soft spot for others that really set him apart. Until we meet again, Eric!
