On October 10, 2020 at 5:59 p.m. , Heaven gained another angel. Our sweet Emily Amber Christensen passed away unexpectedly after 15 months of living with complications of spina bifida. Emily came into our lives July 8, 2019. After coping with nearly two months of surgeries and recovery at the hospital, she came home with us. She won over the heart of everyone that met her. Her siblings adored her and loved spending time holding her, playing peek-a-boo with her, talking to her, and showing affection however they could. Her smile was bright enough to cheer anyone. She enjoyed arching her back to see who had just entered the room, putting things in her mouth, gripping and playing with her favorite toys ‘Mr. Man’ and ‘Graduation Girl’, and eating foods from a ‘big person’ spoon. About three weeks before her passing she learned to say “dada”, which wrapped her daddy even tighter around her little finger. Her daddy loved everything about her, felt a special closeness due to her being the only baby he and Jandel ever had that would snuggle close to him, and enjoyed taking her on walks and playing with her on his lap. Her mom loved singing to her, playing with toys, cuddling, and sharing food with her. She reminded us of how to be brave and continue on through adversity, how to smile and be happy no matter what is going on, and how important it is to treasure the time we have with loved ones and slow down and enjoy the little moments. Emily is survived by her parents Nathan and Jandel Christensen; her siblings Zachary, Jared, Nathan, and Lillian; her four grandparents Diane and Merrill Christensen, and John and Delkys Reading; three great grandmothers, and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A public visitation will take place Friday, October 16, 2020 at 11:45 a.m. at the church meetinghouse located at 1006 E 180 S in Spanish Fork (masks and social distancing will be required), followed by a private funeral at 1:00 p.m. for the family. She will be laid to rest in the Spanish Fork Cemetery.

October 15, 2020 at 12:00 am“When you have someone you love in Heaven,
You have a little bit of Heaven in your home.”
Someone gave our family this saying on a plaque when my mother and brother passed away within 10 days of each other this past May. It’s meant a lot to me, so I’m sharing this saying with you.
With heartfelt condolences and prayers,
Janie Anderson and Family, your old neighbors down the street in Provo

October 18, 2020 at 8:58 pmDear Christensens,
I thought I would send a card and then realized I don’t think I have your address. I am so sorry for your loss. Having someone move on and leave us behind is difficult. She is a beautiful child and I am glad Heavenly Father let you have these precious months with her. I know you look forward to a joyous reunion some day. Sent with love for you all,
Aunt Carolyn Baran
