I’m sorry for the loss of Brother Jones. He was a neighbor and a friend. Brother Jones and his dedication to service had a great impact on my life. He was a home teacher to my family and my first home teaching companion. He taught me so many great lessons on our outings. He always would bring a large Snickers bar to people to celebrate birthdays. He always picked me up so we could fulfill our duties and serve our families. His kind and gentle demeanor was an outward showing of the spiritual giant that he was. I never remember an unkind word crossing his lips and his smile was contagious to everyone. His impact will be felt for generations to come by all those who knew him.

This man is the most righteous , loving, caring, driven, dedicated, Christlike, service oriented, genuine, sincere, man I have ever know! His deep love of the savior and all the saviors sheep is far beyond any one I have ever meet! I had a wonderful relationship with bro. jones, he visited our home often, with a smile a story, his testimony, tears, a candy bar, a pie, an uplifting word, amazing advice, encouragement when I needed it most,! He was a wonderful example of living a Christlike life, he gave of his time, his talents! He was the best primary teacher ever! He hauled young women’s gear to girls camp for years, he built a special cafe/rack on his truck to get it all there safely. He remembered every ward members birthday with a treat. He visited everyone and made them feel important, loved and cared for! He brought the lost sheep back to the fold! This man was a ledgened! I love this man and his amazing example to me! I was thrilled he was able to be the one to seal my daughter and son-in-law in the holy temple! Elwood was a Saint!

Going to miss you, Brother Jones! I cherish the times we played basketball together, visited during your walks around the neighborhood, and so appreciated the Happy Birthday treats you shared with our family. You were a thoughtful and kind home teacher, and my children loved your object lessons. You had such a possitive influence on so many lives!

The thing that stands out most in my mind is his positive attitude and smiling face. My life has been blessed and edified greatly by his witness of the love of God and testimony of our Savior, Jesus Christ. There was never a time that we met that he didn’t express love and appreciation to me. He truly was a man filled with charity for all people.

May peace and comfort be with you, Sister Jones, as well as your entire family! God bless!

He was definitely one of a kind. He had a way of showing up right when he was needed. We have been gone from the neighborhood for a few years now, but whenever we talk about an example of kindness, service and Christlike love, Brother Jones is who we always refer to. He left a mark on our family’s heart forever. We love you brother Jones.

What a perfect example he was of Christ like service to everyone. To Barbara and the children, may you be comforted in knowing what a sweet spirit you had with you for all of these years and will have with you for all eternity. Love you.

We loved this dear man. He was always on the Lord’s errand; the perfect example of love and service. I will always remember his smile and the twinkle in his eye. He made everyone feel important and loved as individuals. It was always a delight to see him at the temple. He might have been forced to slow down recently, but I am confident that he is off and running now. And his dear wife, Barbara, we love as well. They complimented each other so well.

Brother Jones will be missed by all who know him. His smiling face was always a comfort to me. As a neighbor, he and his sweet wife has always been thoughtful and kind. He was first to offer a sincere hand of friendship and willingness to help wherever he could. Who could also forget his competitive nature and desire to play ball. To his sweet wife and children, we mourn with you and yet, we rejoice in the knowledge that he is no doubt doing missionary work on the other side just as he did here in life. Thank you for sharing him with us!

We were so saddened to hear of Brother Jones’ passing. He was always a kind smiling face when we would walk into church and loved to entertain our little boy during sacrament meeting. We will miss his smile as we wrestled with our little guy. He understood the struggles of little boys at church! We send our love to his wife as well!

Bro. Jones has always been an example to me of love, faith, service, and enthusiasm. It seemed like he was always out doing good and encouraging others to be good also. He was always valiant in his testimony of Jesus Christ and showed it by his words and by the way he lived.
He will surely be missed by all who knew him, at least until that great day when we will meet again.
May the Lord continue to comfort you, Sister Jones and the rest of your family in the coming days.

Barbara and Elwood, we sure loved your righteousness and kindness. It has been a joy being your neighbor, being in the same ward and working with Elwood in the temple. He was always so thoughtful of others and remembered our birthdays with a visit and a candy bar. He was a great man and loved by all.

My life has been richly blessed having had the opportunity to rub shoulders with Elwood. I remember one year that He and I were assigned to serve as guards for young women’s camp during one night of camp. It gave me a great opportunity to get to know Elwood much better. We had a great time that evening, even though we had to patrol in the rain. I also have such sweet memories of him as he would bear his testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ during church meetings. His smile was quick and genuine and would bring a smile to my face and heart. He has been a great blessing to me and my family.

Barbara: You have been constantly in my thoughts and prayers. I have not wanted to intrude, but I hope you know I am here if you need or want anything. I love and admire you, as I loved and admired your exemplary husband. Still do love and admire him. May the Holy Spirit sustain and comfort you this day and always, as you surely know he will.

Bishop/President Jones, you were on my mind this sabbath morning. I thought about the love you had for me, and the guidance you offered me when I was going through the most difficult time of my life. I was inspired many times to find you and your lovely wife, and to visit you. Unfortunately I did not heed those promptings, for which I am sorry. You made a young man feel loved when it was desperately needed. I looked at you as a second father. I felt a unique bond with your family. I hold close the day I went to Sacrament meeting while stationed with the U.S. Navy in Washington D.C. Sitting in front of me were two sister missionaries. Imagine my surprise to find Ruth was one of those missionaries – both of us so far from home. Thank you for being there when I needed you the most. I served a lifetime in the military, having retired from the U.S. Army in 2017. I have one son whom served with me in Iraq. Both of us have been greatly impacted as a result. I also served in Kuwait during the first Gulf War, as well as in Afghanistan. I now reside in Bluffdale, not far from our South Jordan homes. May Heavenly Father continue to bless you and your lovely family. As we said in the military to our fallen team members, “Until we meet again in Valhalla.”
