Elsie Brady Memorial Service

Elsie Adell Brady, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away on August 3, 2026, at the home of her son Perry in Payson, Utah.

Elsie was born on March 29, 1932, in Manassa, Colorado, to Sarah Ruth Hannah Jensen and Alvarez Decker Mortensen. She graduated from Manassa High School and attended Brigham Young University for one year in 1951, where she was a cheerleader.

On September 12, 1951, Elsie was sealed for time and all eternity to the love of her life, Monty Brady, in the Salt Lake Temple. Their love story began years earlier when, after a youth dance, Monty walked Elsie home and shared their first kiss on the corner near her childhood home in Manassa. That simple moment marked the beginning of a loving relationship that would endure throughout their lives and, through the blessings of the temple, continue for the eternities.

Together they built a home centered on faith, family, work, service, and love. Side by side they embraced life’s adventures—raising their family, skiing the slopes of Red River, tending beautiful gardens, serving in the temple, and creating a home where everyone felt welcomed and loved.

Elsie dedicated her professional life to serving others through the Colorado Department of Social Services, where she served as the Director of Eligibility. She was respected for her integrity, leadership, and compassion as she worked to improve the lives of those she served.

Life with Monty was filled with adventure. Together they shared a love of the outdoors and especially enjoyed skiing. Many weekends were spent at Red River Ski Area in Red River, New Mexico, where they both served as ski instructors and skied with their children and friends. Their enthusiasm for skiing reflected their joy in embracing life together.

Elsie found great happiness in working outdoors. An avid gardener, she lovingly maintained a beautiful lawn and yard overflowing with flowers. Family members looked forward to visiting, often stopping to gather sweet peas and pick ripe raspberries on their way into the house. Together, Elsie and Monty built a small greenhouse in their backyard, where they started many of their flowers from seed.

Her garden also produced an abundant harvest of vegetables, which she faithfully canned each season. She delighted in sharing home-canned vegetables, flowers, and plants with family, friends, and neighbors. Her yard was more than a beautiful place—it was an expression of her generous heart and her love for nurturing both people and growing things.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Elsie devoted her life to serving the Lord and those around her. Throughout the years she served faithfully in many leadership and service callings. Of all the opportunities she had to serve, none brought her greater joy than the nine years she served as an ordinance worker in the Albuquerque New Mexico Temple. The temple held a special place in her heart, and she found deep peace and fulfillment in serving there.

Family was the greatest joy of Elsie’s life. The Christmas season and the celebration of the 24th of July were especially meaningful because of her. Her home came alive with elaborate Christmas lights, delicious meals, and the warmth that only Elsie could create. She had a remarkable gift for making every gathering feel special, creating traditions that drew her family home year after year. Those celebrations, filled with laughter, love, and togetherness, will forever be cherished by those who were blessed to share them.

Above all, Elsie will be remembered for her kind and loving heart. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a cherished grandmother whose home was always a place of warmth and welcome. She had a remarkable gift for making others feel loved and valued. Kindness came naturally to Elsie, and she extended it freely to everyone she knew and everyone she met. Her quiet example of generosity, faith, hard work, and Christlike love has left a lasting legacy in the lives of her family and countless friends.

Elsie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Monty Brady. She is survived by her children: Kelly Ray (Treva) Brady, Linda (Stoney) Larsen, Perry (Rhonda) Brady, and Janette (Curt) Gomm; eight grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren.

Those who knew Elsie will remember far more than her beautiful flowers, holiday traditions, or generous service. They will remember how she made them feel. When Elsie was present, the world simply seemed like a better and brighter place. She had a genuine interest in everyone and always wanted to know what was happening in the lives of those she loved. Whether family, friends, neighbors, or someone she had just met, she sincerely cared. Her loving concern for others, her quiet kindness, and her unwavering faith touched countless lives. Her family will miss her deeply, but they find comfort knowing that her love, her example, and the light she brought into the world will continue to shine through the generations she leaves behind.
