Ellen “Rose” Turpin December 23, 1942 - November 8, 2021

Ellen Rose Turpin passed away peacefully November 8, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Rose was born December 23, 1942, in Price, Utah, to Earl Harrison Jenkins and Ellen Ruby Jenkins, and was the fourth eldest of twelve children. She cherished her time working at Mountainland Head Start in Administration as a teacher and mentor for over thirty years.

As Matriarch of the family, Rose was like the thread in a quilt that kept the family stitched together with love. She was devoted to her family and her door was always open to anyone.

Organizing and preparing for the yearly Family Reunion was one of her many joys in life. She spent hours making beautiful quilts and gathering prizes for bingo, the gift exchange, and the raffle. She also loved baking, cooking, and made the most wonderful homemade Christmas candy that will be greatly missed. She relished taking the backroads through the fields reminiscing about old times. Rose took pride in her flowers and arranging her garden decorations each summer.

Most of all, Rose was an amazing example of Christlike love for her family and was an Angel on Earth who has truly earned her wings. We will miss her immensely, until we meet again.

Rose is survived by her sons Craig (Marilee) VanAusdal, Shayne (Tracy) VanAusdal; siblings, Ed (Suzanne) Jenkins, Nancy (Ken) Rhodes, Kenneth Jenkins, Michael (Sherry) Jenkins, Sigurd Olson, Russell (Laurie) Jenkins, Jerry (Heidi) Jenkins; and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Ellen Jenkins; her sons, Earl Lynn, Timothy, and Chet VanAusdal; and her siblings, Pete Jenkins, Oliver Jenkins, Martin Jenkins, and David Jenkins.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 12, 2021, at Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah 84651. To the Children and siblings of Rose. I remember her well as I do her siblings. She grew up in the 3rd ward. My mother Jeane Lundholm was your Great grandma friend. I spent a lot of time in that home. I really didn’t see Rose around the house. But, your Great Grandma talked about them all. My condolences to all of you.

Rose was my friend and coworker. I have many fond memories of going to lunch with Rose and Marie Olsen. She was the best mother and loved her children very much. I wish we would have stayed in touch after Marie died. I am sure you all have wonderful memories of Rose. She was a gift.

Sending my love and prayers to Rose’s family. Rose touched so many lives and gave so much love. I learned so much about compassion and caring as I worked with Rose at Head Start. Rose loved her family so much. I know how hard it will be for you to be without her but I also know that she left you bucket loads of love and wonderful memories to hang on to. Dear sweet Rose, you were so loved and will be missed.
