Eldon John Stubbs passed away peacefully in his home, in Spanish Fork, on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. He was 86 years old.
Born and raised on a farm in Provo, Eldon was one of 10 children. He learned early the value of hard work and passed this ethic on to his own children, teaching them that they should never start a project unless they could finish it. He lived by this standard.
In 1957, a tragic car accident took his left arm, but he never let the loss become a handicap. He provided well for his family, first as a brick mason, and later as a successful builder of premier homes in Utah, during the 1970s and 1980s. He always worked hard to earn, enjoy, and share the finer things in life.
Eldon filled his golden years with family time and satisfying hobbies that included restoring antique cars, building log furniture, carving wooden bears, and painting oil landscapes that are now
proudly displayed in the homes of his offspring.
He is survived by his wife, Jolene Swenson Stubbs, and his children and their spouses: Rex Stubbs, Launa and Cris Child, Karen and Kenny Taylor, Jerry and Ella Stubbs, Carl and Eilene Stubbs, Melanie Stubbs, Clint and Lisa Montague, and Wayne and Dejeune Jackson. He is also survived by his 29 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Eldon was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Gaye Gardiner Hansen; his infant daughter, Linda; his parents, Orlin and Norma Stubbs; two siblings, Ronald Stubbs and Jean Aimes; and daughter-in-law, Janette Roylance Stubbs.
The family is comforted knowing that Eldon is now in the loving arms of Jesus.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
