Edward Chris Christensen March 29, 1961 - June 24, 2021

Edward Chris Christensen returned to his Heavenly Father on June 24, 2021, at the age of 60. He was the greatest husband, father, and grandpa who left a legacy of faith and love. He will be deeply missed.

Ed was born on March 29, 1961, to Elwood Ruel Christensen and Gladys Eleanor Young in Van Nuys California along with his two older brothers, Michael, and Patrick. As teenagers, he and his brothers were welcomed into the home of Richard and Jean Black after the passing of their parents.

The Blacks introduced them to the gospel of Jesus Christ, and he was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on November 1, 1975, at the age of 14. He later went on to serve a mission for the church in Monte Video Uruguay and Houston Texas.

Growing up, Ed was a stellar athlete and enjoyed playing basketball, football, baseball/softball, and was known for his towering homeruns.

He hit the jack pot when he married the love of his life, Linda McAffee Sheets, on October 16, 1992. Together they have 7 of the greatest children to ever grace this earth; Shad (Rachel) Fly, Heather (Jeremy) Jones, Shannon (Jared) Abbott, Taylor (Hailame) Kinikini, Tyler (‘Iunisi) Christensen, Jacob, and Justin, who is currently serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Gilbert, AZ. Ed also left behind 15 amazing grandchildren who will miss his candy necklaces, movie dates and grandpa spoiling the heck out of them.

Ed’s greatest joy in life was his family. He loved serving them, teasing them, laughing with them, and working alongside of them. No matter where they were, or what they were doing, they always knew that they were his number one priority. He had a gift of making those he interacted with feel welcome and loved. All who met Ed, could not help but feel that they were in the presence of a caring and loving man.

He constantly sought those in need and was always the first to lend a helping hand. He blessed the lives of countless individuals and families with his giving heart and generous nature.

Ed had unwavering faith in his Savior, Jesus Christ and loved the gospel. He lived his testimony in every aspect of his life; from how he raised his family, to the integrity of his work, and how he treated others. He was unapologetic in his testimony, and those who knew him were blessed by the strength of it. He never shied away from an opportunity to share the gospel in a loving, and genuine way.

He always enjoyed a good round of golf with those he loved, but more importantly the smack talk that came with it (good thing he had the game to back it up.) He passed his passion and love for sports down to his children and grandchildren, (along with the smack talk.) He was so proud of his children and grandchildren in all their aspirations.

Edward is preceded in death by his parents and grandson Calvin Jones.

Words cannot express how much Ed will be missed, yet those he left behind will carry on in his footsteps and live with the kind of faith he would want them to have.
